Chapter 8- trouble in the maproom?

Hey guys! 88 READS!! Y'all are AWESOME! I just wrote a one shot (500 word) story for Maxie_rebadulla's contest:)

Laura's POV
So here I am, sitting with newt, Hannah, and Minho when it dawns on me that NONE of us have been on a first date, or at least one we can remember. And then I realized that I just referred to this as a DATE. Even though Minho and Hannah are also with us, and we kind of planned it for them in the first place, it's still kind of like a first date for me and newt. AWkWarD!! What does one do on a first date? No clue! But pretty sure it involves talking at some point so I take a breath and turn to try and put a conversation in motion but newt beat me to it.
"So.. Um, Laura. What's your favorite color?" All the tension in my stomach releases and I have to hold back a sigh of relief.
"My favorite color? Oh.. Uh. It's green."
"Me too." Hannah pipes up. I turn back to newt.
"What's yours?"
"Well.. I really like orange. But not like 'pumpkin' orange. More like... Sunset orange." I've never heard a guy say anything more touching. I can feel myself staring. Stay focused Laura don't be all weird!! But all I can say is:
"Cool." Minho laughs out loud from the other side of the blanket. I wasn't even paying attention to what Hannah and Minho were doing. They could've kissed by now for all I knew! But thank goodness I realized it was only Hannah telling him about how many sticks she tripped over on the way to the map room. .

OTHER THOUGHTS DURING THE DATE☀️
Minho: her hair is REALLY pretty. Does she ever run? Maybe she'd go on runs with me! OMG! Say something Minho! Talk to her!
"Speaking of like..running and stuff.. I'm a runner you know.. So if you ever wanna go for a run sometime.."
Hannah: "yeah that'd be great." OMG he's so cute and funny and what was that about running. Oh whatever. I'd do anything to hang out with HIM.
Laura: OMG he TOTALLY LIKES HER!! I KNEW IT OMG!
Newt: so.. Um.. Laura, do you wanna build a snowman? No! That's not it, newt. Pull yourself together man! She's just a pretty, smart, athletic.. Holy flying cowsickles! I'm in trouble.
Laura: *while pulling the leaves off a strawberry* he loves me, he loves me not, he loves me!! I knew it. It's fate!! Minho's running idea was good. Wish newt and I could go on a run sometime. I guess I could ask. No. Yes. No. YESSSS. "Hey newt, do you wanna go on a walk?"
Newt: *brain explodes* what? What'd she say? "Yeah sure."
*newt and Laura walk out of the map room*
Hannah: "I guess it's just me and you.. "
Minho: "yeah."
"Thanks for catching me by the way."
"Anytime. So, What do you wanna do? It's probably too late to go for a run in the maze, and if we walk through the deadheads we might disturb newt and Laura's "romance"(they both laugh) but we could always just go hang out in the homestead."
"Sure,let's go."
*hannah and Minho leave the map room*
