I remember the day we very first met,
Two random strangers who held no regret.
We laughed and talked for hours on end,
And with every word, you became my friend.

But life can be cruel, and fate has its way,
And before I knew it, you were slipping away.
Our friendship faded, and so did my heart,
And I was left with a pain that tore me apart.

But even though we're no longer close,
I see you every day, it's like a ghost.
The memories linger, and the feelings remain,
And every time I see you, it's like a knife to my brain.

And oh how I wish I could turn back the time,
To make things right, and make you mine.
But life goes on, and we have to go on too,
And although it's hard, I'll find a way to get through.

So I'll smile and wave, and pretend I'm okay,
And hope that someday, the pain will fade away.
But deep down, I'll always love you, my friend,
And I'll cherish the memories until the very end.
