Falling: Part 2 (Peter P.)

Peter was tired. He was tired, confused and angry, and he let all these emotions out on a punching bag. He knew he should probably get some sleep, but today was just one of those days when he couldn't sleep, no matter how much he wanted to.

He was staying at the compound for the weekend. He had a room here, all the avengers knew him (And dare he say, were fond of him) and he was welcome at any moment.

Barely 15 minutes went by and Peter realized this was just not it. He needed air to gather his thoughts. He needed to think about the Void situation, the Y/n situation, the fact that Aunt May and Ned now knew he was Spider-man, and the amount of home work he still had to finish.

So what did he do? Of course, he did what any 15 year old nerd who was secretly an arachnid themed superhero would do: He went out on a swing.

And that was approximately 30 minutes ago.

As of now, he was sitting at the rooftop of Midtown High, at 2 AM, eating a ham, cheese, pickle-on-french-bread-with-mustard, grilled-and-pressed-flat-sandwich.

They were just so good-

Anyway, just as he was finally forgetting everything and had started relishing the flavor of the delicious sandwich, he felt a presence behind him.

Great. Was some alone time too much to ask for?

He had a hunch that he knew who the person, but he still tugged his mask down to cover his face.

It wasn't uncommon for The Void and him to come across each other, but it had never been during the secluded hours of the night. He screamed internally when he saw that she had made her way and sat down next to him. His mind was going into overdrive, wondering what he should say next. This was the closest they'd ever been, and it was also the first time they were alone together.

So he did the simplest thing: He said nothing. He knew he would stutter and make a fool of himself if he did.

But then she broke the silence.

"Up so late at night, Parker? Didn't expect you to be a night owl."

"Being Spider man doesn't exactly make sleep a priority, not that it ever was."

"Hmm."

They both were silent for a moment, just observing their surroundings, both trying to rid their minds of negative and stressful thoughts.

Well, the thought counts. At least they were trying?

"I need to tell you something-"

"How do you know I'm Peter-"

"Um, you go first." Peter murmured.

"Uh, I should answer you. What I wanted to tell you, it's related to the knowing you're Peter thing."

Peter, who by now had taken off his mask, thinking keeping it on was no good, raised an eyebrow.

"Look, um, it goes like this, do you happen to know someone that you didn't know a couple months ago?"

"I mean, there's many people, I didn't know Tony personally a couple months ago, and the vulture, I guess? Oh and Y/n-"

"Oh." Peter put two and two together. Realization, confusion, horror and then confusion- AGAIN- struck him. "OH"

"Yeah. Oh."

"I- You're Y/n?!"

"In the flesh. As you can see, I'm the The Void too, though not by choice.", you confirmed, taking the mask covering your face off.

"H-how? I mean, I didn't expect you to be Y/n, no no, I didn't expect Y/n to be the Void, I- I am so confused right now-"

You just chuckled in response. You were happy Peter wasn't angry you hid this from him. You didn't know him since a long time but even in this short span of time you both knew each other, you two had grown close. But then again, he'd be a jerk if he was angry, considering he didn't tell you he was Spider man.

"But how did you find out I was Spider man? Y/n didn't know."

"She didn't? Well, Parker, turns out you and your guy in the chair are not very good at keeping secrets."

"Wait- Ned told you?"

"No, it's just that it didn't take Sherlock to figure out you were Spider man. You need to learn how to be discreet, Pete. And what if I was an enemy who overheard you fangirling about how Spider man is such a good avenger and how cool he is? And changing in alleyways is not exactly very beneficial towards the keeping-Spider man-a-secret thing, Parker."

"Shut up", Peter tried to pretend to be annoyed.

"You shut up", you grinned. "You're kinda scaring me with how quickly you came to terms with the fact that I'm the Void, y'know?"

"What, you'd rather I'd be throwing a fit right now? The idea to piss you off is tempting but it's not as tempting as this sandwich is, n/n."

"You don't deserve to throw a fit! I mean, you thought I didn't and shouldn't know you were Spider man!"

"I wanted to keep you safe!"

"Sure. Two can play at that game. Now gimme a bite.", you glared at Peter playfully.

"Nope. Not happening.", he smirked.

"Rude!"

"Y'know, the fact that you're the Void clears up a lot of things for me."

"What are those 'things'?"

"Do not air quote the word things. They're serious. I've been thinking-"

"Don't worry, doing anything for the first time is difficult, Parker."

Peter glared at you, "You're gonna regret saying that."

"No, I don't think I will."

Peter raised an eyebrow (He looked adorable) and suddenly lunged at you. He started tickling you-

"Oh-" gasp "Okay-" wheeze "Alright-"

You said, while howling with laughter, "ALRIGHT, I yield!"

Peter stopped with his brutal attacks and looked at you, grinning from ear to ear.

"You're a little shit, Spidey."

"Was just proving a point.", he chuckled.

You tried regaining your composure to glare at him, but you giggled instead. It felt like a million butterflies were fluttering in your stomach, and all of a sudden you realized how close you and Peter really were.

You loved everything about Peter, the way he lit up a room with merely his presence, how contagious his smile was.

You loved this sensation, and you didn't want this moment to end. Why?

Because you had never felt something like this before.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Peter had contemplated whether he should tickle you. Sure, you both were very close friends, but your friendship didn't involve a lot of physical contact. But when he did tickle you and your sweet laughter reached his ears, he realized that it was worth it. All the awkward sleepovers, secret glances, they were worth it. If any dumb science pun he shared made you laugh or even smile, he felt like his day was made. This was not just a crush. He knew what having a crush felt like, but this went beyond that, whatever "this" was. He had crushed on Liz, and for a little while he had thought he had feelings for MJ, but none of it was comparable, not even a lifetime spent with them was comparable to how much you made him happy by just smiling. By just existing.

No, this was something else, something which went deeper than any crush he ever had.

Because he had never felt something like this before.

I'm pissed at myself for not providing closure to the sandwich and for not mentioning what bugboy was thinking. Mostly because of the sandwich. But so be it.
