"Drowning yourself in work isn't going to make him wake up any quicker," Kaeya sat down at the work site. Kaveh had barely slept and when he did fall asleep it was never too far from the construction zone.
"I should've talked to him sooner..." Kaveh muttered, hammering away until he hit his thumb. He winced, bringing it to his lips.
"Drowning yourself in regrets isn't going to help either," Kaeya sighed.
"Perhaps..." Dainsleif adjusted his position standing beside Kaeya, folding his hands behind him. Kaeya jerked his head around to face him. He was shocked to see him, first of all, and secondly, he was against whatever he was about to offer. Kaeya knew Dainsleif's suggestions always came at a risk to himself.
"What are you going to say?" Kaeya grabbed Dainsleif's arm, pinching him slightly. Dainsleif looked down at his hand, a similar design to his mask. Kaveh couldn't tell if it was his skin color or a glove.
"If it would help resolve the situation I could potentially heal him," Dainsleif suggested.
"At what cost?" Kaeya glared.
"My Prince, it's a price I'm already paying. What does it matter if it gets worse?" Dainsleif stared at him blankly. Kaeya held his face in his hands and felt his heart drop to the floor. Kaveh pretended not to hear a thing as the two were stuck in their own world.
"I'm not a prince anymore, Dain!" Kaeya snapped, standing up finally. "When are you going to get that through your thick skull?!"
"Even if the world forgets, my Prince will always be a prince to me," Dainsleif replied.
"W-what?" Kaeya tripped over his feet trying to take a step back and collect his thoughts. He fell but was caught by Dainsleif. Kaeya stared into his eyes. He was even more flustered now that Dainsleif was so close and always so stoic.
"Those two really have forgotten I exist," Kaveh sighed. He wandered back into Zhongli's home to give those two some privacy. Whatever it was they were talking about now, Kaveh was lost on the subject. Even though he didn't intend to, he always ended up back where Alhaitham was.
Kaveh crawled into the bed and picked up Alhaitham's arm to wrap it around himself. He rested his head on Alhaitham's chest and closed his eyes. This was the only place he could genuinely sleep and feel rested upon waking up.
"Please open your eyes soon," Kaveh whispered. He placed a kiss on the back of Alhaitham's hand. "I'm sorry for not catching up with you every time you ran away. I really want to talk to you. I miss you." Kaveh shed tears but was eerily calm. "I miss you a lot."
