Not more than three minutes into the journey, Dream began to seriously fear that yes, Sapnap had been right. His little girl was much closer to coming into the world than he would have believed. The contractions had started earlier that morning, waking him up at around 7am and his water had broken a couple of minutes after that, barely making it into the shower before it happened which thankfully prevented a mess to clean. It couldn't have been more than half an hour since that, and the boy still wanted to trust what everyone had told him, that first-time babies could take up to several days to be born.
At the time the thought of that had seemed like a real life nightmare, but now he just wished his little girl would stick to that assumption and wait for a bit until they at least made it to the fucking hospital. That she would stop making him feel like she was about to come out in his pants. Dream felt the urge to push. And he fought it to the best of his control, knowing that they weren't even close to arriving at the hospital yet, and the idea of giving birth without a doctor present was another thing in his list of fears. His little girl could wait.
Squeezing his boyfriend's hand, who sat in the back seat trying to comfort him, Dream clung to both him and the seat under his head, eyes squeezed shut as he tried to focus on something other than the urgency of his body screaming at him, to give birth now. Dream kept his legs pressed together, despite the intense discomfort that that brought and how unnatural it felt, when literally every cell in his body was urging him to open them as wide as possible and push already.
Ten minutes and several cursed red lights later, Dream gave up on continuing resisting his body, knowing there was no point as he felt her move down on her own, groaning loudly and changing his position on the seat.
"George-"
"Yes, Dream?" He responded immediately, nerves evident in his voice and trying to shift to see his expression, finding him pale and looking as if he was about to faint.
"She's coming, George." He whined, arching up and starting to pant. "She's coming."
"I know, Dream, I know, I know. We'll get to the hospital in no time. Just- just keep breathing."
"No, no, no, no." He replied, shaking his head and spreading his legs as far apart as the confined space allowed. "She's coming- she's coming now-"
"W-what? What do you mean?"
"Dream?" Then asked Sapnap, who had been relatively silent during the journey, looking sideways at both of them with an expression of sudden shock.
"I can feel her coming down." He whined again, using his hands to lift himself up from his seat a bit and groaned at the pain. "I've gotta push."
"No, Dream, not yet. Your water hasn't even broken yet!" George then informed, looking alarmed to see his boyfriend begin to make his warning true, bearing down on his seat and pushing as his body had been asking him to do for nearly twenty minutes. Once he was free of that contraction, Dream breathed hard, shifting slightly when he felt his baby move down even more.
"It did- when I was in the bathroom."
"What?! Why didn't you tell me?!"
"I thought it..." The boy spluttered, pausing to push again, not finishing whatever he was going to say. "I-I was scared."
"Dream..." George then saw how Dream squirmed in his seat, letting go of his hand to take both to his pants with the idea of taking them off at once. The implication of that terrified him.
"Hey, hey, what are you doing?" Sapnap intervened again, watching the boy next to him fight his pants to get free of them, barely a moment before he succeeded, also taking care of his underwear in the process. Sapnap looked away immediately. "Dream?!"
"Isn't it obvious, you genius?" George replied sarcastically, although with a slightly trembling voice, putting his hand on Dream's shoulder and pressing gently, being able to feel his body tense periodically, while his moans indicated when he was actively working on giving birth. "Fuck, I don't think we're gonna make it to the hospital."
"What?! Guys- no. Dream, you're not giving birth in my fucking car, dude." Sapnap was starting to sound alarmed, seeming to struggle between keeping his gaze away from his right or not taking his eyes off the half naked boy panting next to him. "Can't you hold it in a bit more? We're almost, uh, almost there."
"What?! You can't just tell him to fucking hold her in! It's a baby not a bloody fart!"
"Well, he's been doing it for the last nine months! He can do it for like, ten more minutes while we get there!"
"That's not how it fucking works, you idiot!"
"Well, of course, you're the expert, aren't you?"
"More expert than you for sure! Do you even know anything about labour?" George was getting especially heated with that pointless discussion, more than usual. Probably the nerves and anxiety of knowing that his boyfriend was in pain and that his daughter would be born soon. "Of course you don't! All you do babble crap and look like a fucking idiot all the time."
"Oh, but of course you fucking know it all. You're so fucking old, after all. I'm surprised you even managed to get him pregnant, is your wrinkly penis still able to get up or do you need help with that too? "
"Oh god, you're so disgusting, what is wrong with you?!"
The screaming match inside the car was interrupted by a new entrant joining it. As deep into their stupid argument as they were, it took both of them a couple of seconds to realize that the sudden, high-pitched, choked cries were definitely not coming from the other, and surely not from Dream either.
In unison, the pair turned to look at the boy in the passenger seat, who was panting with his eyes closed in apparent relief, and cradling a noisy little creature to his chest. Slippery, pink and fresh out of the oven, Dream and George's daughter cried high pitched squeals with the volume in her voice that she seemed to have inherited from her father. The discussion between the oldest and the youngest was immediately forgotten at the scene, while George, with his eyes, wide open and fixed on the little thing that had just come out of his boyfriend stretched out his hand to Sapnap's shoulder to shake him eagerly, apparently without thinking about the danger of doing that to the driver.
"Oh fuck- Sapnap, stop the car, pull over now!"
The younger boy hurried to obey, searching for a space to pull over and being lucky there wasn't too much traffic around them, quickly finding a spot along the curb to park. Sapnap felt his hands shake against the steering wheel and himself turn pale at what had just happened next to him.
As soon as the vehicle stopped moving, George opened the door not facing the traffic and jumped out of the car, going to the passenger door and also opening it to look at his boyfriend and his daughter, leaning toward the interior of the car. His left hand hovered over the baby, as he seemed to decide what the fuck to do.
"Dream-"
"Fuck- should we call an ambulance or something, George?"
"Would've been smart to do that from the start." Dream commented in a slightly agitated voice, speaking again for the first time since he had started to push, maneuvering somewhat awkwardly to get his shirt out of the way and allowing the newborn to latch and start nursing from his chest, incidentally muting the very loud complaints at having to exist now in that strange world. "But to be fair, I had no idea she was coming this fucking fast."
Everything then was silent for a few seconds, while the three seemed to assimilate what had just happened. The gazes of the other two fixed on the newborn.
"Just take me to the fucking hospital now." The tallest finally ordered, opening his eyes again to also look at his baby and caressing her skin with the thumb of his left hand, making soft circles on it with the pad of his thumb. "I can't believe I actually just did that."
