***Sophmore in college
"This year your grade will be made up of two assignments; a midterm and a final." My new literature professor droned on. "I expect you to come to class every day prepared. I assume you already have the two text books you were asked to get. Make sure you have at least 5, 300 page notebooks for this year." He emphasizes. I give my roommate the help me look and she does the same.
"Notes will be taken every day, and they will be used for the tests." He practically yells. The professor glances down at his watch and then back at us. "It seems as if our time is up today. I expect to see you all tomorrow." He scans the room and we all stare back at him. "All though I do not know any of your 350 names, I probably never will, I will be able to tell if any one is missing. You hear me?"
We all murmur in understanding and then begin to gather our stuff. My roommate leans across the aisle and whispers to me "do you think it's to late to change classes?"
I laugh. "Hanna, it was to late like a month ago. You need a literature credit anyway." I pick up my books from the long thin desk that stretches halfway across the room and set them in my lap.
As I stand up with my books and my bag from off the floor a hand touches the small of my back. "Excuse me. May I get through?" A very British male voice asked. I turn to find the hottest guy I have ever seen staring back at me expectantly.
"Yes of course. Sorry." I move out the way so he can get to the stairs. My eyes trail after him as he walks down the long row of stairs and exits the classroom. I stand in the aisle for a moment in shock.
"He's gay." Hanna whispers.
"Aww! He can't be. He's to cute." I whine quietly as Hanna pulls me down the bleacher like stairs and out the door.

"Unbelievable!" I mutter.
"What?" Hanna asks from across the room.
"Oh nothing." I throw my arms up over head and lean back in my chair, stretching. "Just that it's the first day of school and I already have things I need to study and homework that's waiting to be done."
"Oh come on!" Hanna shouts.
Now it's mine turn to ask what.
"You can't be in here all night! You said it yourself: it's the first day of school. Think of all the parties tonight."
"Yeah no." I shake my head and turn back to my computer screen.
"Aww why not?" Hanna whines from behind me.
"You are more of the night life person. I'm not much for parties anyway. You can go, just let me know where so I can look for you in the morning." I say not turning away from the complicated chemical equations that litter my screen.
"Suit yourself." She sings. She opens and closes a few drawers in her bureau before going across the hall to the bathroom. After a few minutes she comes back for her purse. "Call me if you want me to come pick you up." She says
"Same." I reply before she closes out door. And before I knew it I was knee deep in chemical equations again.
