Dear Vanessa,
I really can't believe we've been writing to each other for four years! I remember how excited I was when I got your first letter, it was like talking with an alien. (not that you are an alien. That's NOT what I meant.) But we've been writing to each other for a long time, and I've told my parents about you and how cool and awesome you are. I've talked to them about this for a while now.... Maybe it's time we finally get to meet in person? Sorry if that sounds stalkerish and creepy.
Your friend,
Sean

I looked down at the letter in front of me. When I told Vanessa I wanted to meet her, I wasn't lying. I had been talking with her for so long, and even though we hadn't met in person before, I sort of considered her one of my best friends. She was hilarious and had funny stories to tell me every time she wrote back. And the fact that she wrote back within two weeks made me feel like she was just as eager to talk to me.
I looked at the clock on my bedside table, it was almost six, time for dinner. I grabbed an envelope from my desk, folded Vanessa's letter neatly and put it into the envelope. I wrote her name and address on it neatly so the post office could read it.
"Mom! I'm going to deliver Vanessa's letter to the post office! I'll be home soon."
"Be careful, Sean."
"No promises." I laughed under my breath, walking outside, hopping on my bike, and making my way downtown.
