I sat down on my bed in my dorm while my roommate, Elliot, was working on his English paper. The past two years of college have gone by in the blink of an eye, I felt like just yesterday I had graduated high school. Outside, a giant crack of lightning lit up the grey sky for a split second, sending heavy rain pouring down. I tightened my jacket tighter around me.

"Man, you've been sitting there for at least a half hour," Elliot says, closing his laptop and looking at me.

"The rain's relaxing me," I answer simply, "when I was in Lit today, we had to write a letter to our favorite author, and it reminded me of a girl I used to write to."

"When was this?"

"Middle school- I can't really remember what year it was, but I just remember how cool she was."

"What was her name?"

"Vanessa."

"Did she play Call of Duty?" he asks, causing me to smile.

"No. But she did like those cute Disney animations. I even asked if she had a secret Pokemon collection," I rest my head against my pillow.

"Well did she?"

"Again, no. But the last time we spoke was years ago. I hadn't even thought much about her until we had to write those letters. I bet you she forgot I even existed."

"I bet she remembers you. How could she not?"

"I kind of gave up on her after a while. I went to visit her in New York, to find out she went to L.A, to never finding her. Whatever was going on was too confusing."

"Well, there are tons of other girls here on campus," Elliot says, watching the basketball game on TV.

"You're right," I reply.

"Let's to check the common room for some."

"Alright."
