"Thank you very much.""Yes I understand.""Ok bye." I hung up the phone.
"Another rejection?" Caprice asks, laying on her bed reading a magazine.
"Yes!" I sigh. "That's the tenth rejection call I've gotten." I'm in the midst of looking for a job. I've tried every where around my school. I've turned in 11 resumes, and so far I've been rejected by 10 stores or restaurants.
My mom decided I needed a job late in the summer while I was at home. I guess she wants me to help pay for my car an my food. So far it is the middle of November and obviously I don't have a job.
Adele's "Turning Tables" starts to play; my ringtone. I toss Caprice my phone. "Here, you get it." I tell her. I'm not in the mood to answer any more calls, no matter who it is. I flop down in a beanbag and steal Caprice's magazine
Caprice hits answer and slides my iPhone up to her ear. "Hello?...She's not here right now can I take a message?" She glares at me, probably for taking her magazine. Suddenly she perks up an listens closely to the person in the phone. "Actually she just walked in, would you like to speak to her?" She asks after a moment. "Sure. Here she is." She pass me the phone, her hand over the microphone. "You might like this." She whispers.
"Hello?" I stand up from my beanbag and start to pace around the room.
"Hi. Is this Vanessa Williams?" A lady asks.
"This is."
"Hi Vanessa. I'm Beatrice, the owner of the Book Corner. I would love for you to work here."
"Really?!" I screech.
"Absolutely. You seem perfect for this job. If you can could you come down today by four. I would like to train you and have you start as soon as possible."
"Sure. I'll be there by four. Thank you so much."
"Ok. I'll see you soon. Bye Vanessa.
"Bye." I smile as I hang up the phone.
"So..?!" Caprice prys.
"I guess the 11th time is the charm!" I raise my arms in a shrug trying I act like its no big deal.
"Oh my god you got the job!" Caprice screams. She grabs my hands and starts to jump up and down.
"Yes I did, and she asked me to come down at four." I stop jumping after a while.
"Well" Caprice pulls her sleeve back to check her sparkly new watch. "It's three now. You should probably clean up a bit. And then it takes 10 minutes to get downtown."
"So I should be there by 3:20?" I ask raising an eyebrow.
"Oh honey! It's gonna take more then 10 minutes to make you look presentable!"

Half an hour later I had my nails freshly painted and one of Caprice's outfits. Caprice even got me to wear a little eyeshadow and liner.
"Come on Vanessa! You don't want to be late, do you?" Caprice whines.
"By the time I get there it'll only be 3:40. She said four. I can hang around for a while."
"Uh, no you can't. You want to be early, make it look like you want the job but your not desperate. And darling, it's we not I."
"I don't need you to go, I know what I'm doing."
"I'm going to make sure you don't make a fool of yourself."

Caprice got me to The Book Corner with plenty of time to spare.
I walked up to the counter at 3:45 and introduced myself. "Hi, I'm Vanessa Williams, your new employee." I told the boy working at the counter.
"Oh yeah. Beatrice told me you were coming. Follow me she's back in the her office."
