"Yuki we should get inside, the forest it's... It's dark and gloomy, the demons! What if they get to us?! I'm scared..."

I begged her as I just sought after her like a mindless doll. She wasn't stopping nor was she looking at me, but instead was speed-walking through the forest.

She was drawing heavy breaths like she ran a marathon and occasionally mumbled things and shook her head as if dismissing her words.

I snatched her wrist and swayed her around to face me. Her face was distorted with a mixture of misery and yearning.
She swatted my hand away and backed away from me with her hand on the hilt of her Katana.

"Yuki..."
I stood there dumbfounded and all I could do was just stare at her and wait for an explanation.

"Draw your sword"

"Are you out of your mind? Why would I do that?!"

She took in a deep breath and hushed the pang in her heart as she unsheathed her Katana and pointed it at me.

"This is the last trial for you and once you finish it you'll be on your way to the final selection, so-"

She paused mid-sentence as she collected her thoughts.

"So...fight me."

My mouth hung ajar as I just couldn't wrap my head around this absurd situation. Why must we have this last trial in the forest and in the middle of the night? And why is she acting like this?

"Y-Yuki, why must we do it right now? Can't we wait until tomorrow? You just woke me up randomly and simply sprinted out of the house. I-i-i don't get what's going on..."

"Kill me."

A deafening silence befalls us, and neither I not her dare to break it for we fear for what's to come after it.

She moves closer and closer until the tip of her Katana glide on the skin of my neck and allowed the fine silver blade to be coated with my blood.

Tears glaze her eyes as she looks up and tries to hide them away from me, but I noticed them right away and finally have the courage to say something.

"Why...?"

She sighs and in a matter of seconds the tears are all gone and instead there's a glimpse of coldness in them.

"You said that this was my last trial, so tell me why exactly must I kill you?"

I take a deep breath to calm myself and continue to question her again.

" why... Why are you doing this to me?"

She doesn't say anything and examines me with icy-cold eyes.

After a moment of tormenting silence, she smiles gently and looks up at the shimmering moon.

"For you to grow stronger a sacrifice must be made. Though I never intended to make it so soon, considering how your time is limited I must do this..."

" don't try to stop me... Fight with all your might... And processed onward."

She embraces me and pats my head as she whispers in my ear how none of this is my fault and that everything will be worth it in the end, but I just don't have the guts to believe her.

She was my friend, the family and sister I never had and to lose her right after losing the Kamados just snaps my heart into a million pieces.

"Your hesitant and bewilderment is all normal and I promise you that there's nothing to be afraid of. You should be proud of yourself for making it this far."

She smiles gently as she places a soft kiss on my forehead.

"Remember that you're not alone, I'll always be here for you"
