"𝐈'𝐦 𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐰"♡
"You—what are you doing here?"
The god giggled, wiping tears from the corners of its eyes.
"Is this how humans express gratitude nowadays? I must admit, it's quite amusing."
I tightened my fists, fighting the temptation to strike the god. It appeared that the divines enjoyment stemmed from provoking me.
The deity idly twined its lengthy locks around its delicate fingers, casting a contemplative gaze upon the immobile humans encircling us.
"Explain yourself! What business do you have here?" I commanded with a menacing tone, tightening my grip on the hilt of my katana with unwavering determination.
The deity scoffed, beginning to pace leisurely around the room.
"Relax, mortal. I have no desire for combat... at least not at this moment. I've merely come to deliver a warning."
Raising an eyebrow in curiosity, I released my grip on the katana, attentively listening to his ominous words.
"Don't fool yourself into believing you can change your destiny; just accept reality as it stands and stop searching for answers. You humans have a remarkable inability to face the truth, tsk."
The god's countenance turned solemn, a stark departure from its usual mocking and cheerful demeanor.
"I'm keeping a close watch, and I'll intervene personally if I catch you attempting to escape," the deity warned with a grave tone.
With venomous words and eyes ablaze with intensity, the divinity dissolved into nothingness as time resumed its normal course. The wisps of smoke dissipated alongside the god, leaving the pale-faced boy unconscious.
Amidst the celebration of the operation's success, I couldn't shake off my sense of dejection and uncertainty. Before the unexpected visitation of the deity, I had meticulously planned every detail. Now, knowing the god's watchful gaze, my carefully laid plans felt futile and devoid of purpose.
What should I do now?
Should I abandon all efforts to find a solution?
But I can't do that. I made a promise to Yuki that I would find a way, that her death wouldn't be in vain.
I grumbled in irritation, shaking my head in frustration.
"Perhaps I should visit the temple," I mused quietly. "There might be clues left behind. Besides, I owe it to those who perished to seek justice. Surely, I'll uncover the path forward there."
With the attention now diverted away from me, I slipped away unnoticed and stealthily made my way towards the edge of the territory.
My destination: the temple.
