"C'mon, Seaweed-Brain!" Annabeth giggled, tugging him playfully along with her.
"You're giving me the creeps, Annabeth," he confessed, his voice brimming with playfullness.
Despite his unease, Percy knew without a doubt that his girlfriend would never dream of harming him. Since the end of the giant war, he had devoted every spare moment to being with Annabeth, hoping to deepen their bond as much as possible, to make up for what they had missed out on...well, he didn't like to dwell on that.
He had even picked out a ring for her and was biding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to reveal it. Not now, of course. Maybe later.
"Wait!" she commanded, thrusting a blindfold into his hand, shaking Percy out of his inner monolouge. "Put this on."
Percy regarded her with a dubious expression, conveying his lack of enthusiasm for what was to come. "Seriously?" he inquired, sarcasm dripping beneath his voice.
"Quit being such a killjoy," she ordered, exasperated at his suspcision. However, she knew it wasn't his fault, as he did fight in two major wars, both of which he was betrayed countless times.
With a resigned sigh, Percy donned the blindfold, accepting whatever fate Annabeth had planned for him.
"Are you satisfied?" he asked, his tone tinged with exasperation.
Annabeth smirked. "Absolutely," she replied. "Now, just follow my lead."
"Uh...Wise Girl? How am I supposed to follow you if I can't see?" Percy questioned, twiddling his fingers. "I swear, if this is just a ploy for you to make me ram into random things and record it, I'm not gonna do it." Percy added, his tone suddenly becoming annoyed.
"Ugh! Seaweed Brain! Grab my hand, I'll guide you!" Annabeth replied, stating it as if it was obvious. Percy knew that she didn't actually think about this deatail when she hatched this plan, and was just trying to hid this revelation, yet, before he could snarkily comment in it, she latched onto his hand, dragging him away to gods know where.
They stood up from the couch, and carefully made their way to their door, making sure not to topple anything that was too fragile. Percy and Annabeth, hand closely linked, left the door of their apratment, and made their eway towards their destination.
As the duo passed the main streets of new Rome, many demigods turned around to give them looks of confusion, and some faces where filled with smirks.
Annabeth led Percy deeper into the hills that protected New Rome, far from their apartment, and up to a vantage point that overlooked the glittering west coast.
The ocean had always been a source of comfort for Percy, a surefire way to come out on top in any fight. It certainly made life easier. However, as much as the idea of being blindfolded and guided to a surprise by his girlfriend sounded lovely, Percy quickly discovered that reality was not quite so charming.
Likewise, Annabeth discovered just how difficult it was to steer a human being, particularly one whose hair was weighed down with wet seaweed.
'Perhaps that is the reason for his excessive consumption of coffee' she thought. His mind, it seems, requires the stimulating effects of caffeine to maintain its mind-numbingly stupid decision making skills...
After numerous apologies from Annabeth and a colorful pallet of curses hurled by Percy in a diverse range of languages (having two languages firmly embedded in your mind certainly comes in handy), Annabeth was finally able to bring Percy to a halt. Mind you, this was not an easy feat for her, as he would not stop tapping his foot, or squirming excessively under her grasp.
