Silence...

Silence was all there was.

It was so loud that it was almost deafening.

Ironic isn't it?

Something so tranquil could be so... agonizing.

That was proven since that day.

That day when one man lost everything he cherished and nurtured.

Everything he ever lived for.

Why had it come to this? Why was it that he had to survive instead of his family? How long has it been anyway? A week? A month? Who knows? The healers refused to tell him but did grant him his request.

After all it's the least they could do.

A knock interrupted his thoughts, "Sir? I have the materials you asked for." The door opened and the nurse entered to give him a bag. "Is this everything?" The woman nodded, "Yes sir, I even triple checked."

The man checked again and nodded, "That will be all, thank you." He didn't spare her a glance. He didn't want to be bothered. He sat up from the bed and carefully retrieved the items from the bag and examined them one by one.

The first one was a preserved flower

At first, no one would even believe that this was authentic. This type of flower was the first and only variation of its kind. A lotus that had a very distinct color. The petals were purple that turned blue at the end. It was beautiful. He wouldn't forget the day how happy Bianca was when she finally got the flower to bloom in that pattern, after so many attempts and failures. The frustrations she had and the times she had nearly given up on it if he hadn't reminded her that this was her goal.

To create something that will signify the start of a new life.

Their life.

Together.

Who's Bianca you might ask?

That's a great question.

Bianca was his wife.

Her entirety herself was rare, much like this flower. Her beauty was incomparable, timeless. Even more so when she smiles. He always wanted her pink plump lips curved at a smile and nothing else. She was talented in so many things that it was intimidating. All the more when you know all that and she remains humble and kind to other people.

She was in a league of her own.

He was lucky to have met her at such a young age, befriend her and be with her.

"Kalijan! Kalijan! Come over quick!" The excitement in her voice was so immaculate that it made his heart ache.

Longing to hear her voice once more.

"I finally did it! Look at how pretty it is!" The fact that he was the first person she looked for before anyone else made him even more special. He remembered the words he said to her, "Just like you." How his words made her cheeks flush was something he took delight in. "What are you gonna call it?" She thought for a while, "How about Jhin?" It was weird, "Why Jhin?" She shrugged, "Because its beauty is golden. No flower will compare to this one."

Undoubtedly like her, "Then should I call you Jhin?"

"I dragged you here to see the beauty of the flower, not to flatter me." A soft chuckle escaped him from the memory. "It's only beautiful because you were the one to nurture it, my dear." It was cheesy but it stretched her smile to a grin and even earned him a kiss, "I love you."
