It was snowing by the time Hermione took over the watch at midnight from Y/n. Harry himself was fast asleep in his bunk but his dreams were confused and disturbing. Nagini wove in and out of them, first through a gigantic, cracked ring, then through a wreath of Christmas roses. He woke repeatedly, panicky, convinced that somebody had called out to him in the distance, imagining that the wind whipping around the tent was footsteps or voices.

"That is the fourth time you have awoken like that, Are you alright Harry?" Y/n asked him.

"I'm fine." Harry said sitting up. "You still mad about..."

"Dumbledore?" Y/n finished for him. "Furious." He admitted. "But Hermione was right, I am more angry at him for not telling me and you these things himself. But nothing can change what has happened and the man is dead. I am not going to allow these truths sway me, we have all sacrificed too much and even if I were to leave were would I go? My grandmother is dead, My brother and parents want to kill me and the entire wizarding world is on the hunt for you and I. Hermione is all I have left. I will stay by her side till the end."

"Let's check on Hermione." Harry said feeling slightly better to hear Y/n was staying at least, He'd had enough of talking about Dumbledore for one day.

The two got up in the darkness and joined Hermione, who was huddled in the entrance to the tent reading A History of Magic by the light of her wand. The snow was still falling thickly, and she greeted with relief Harry's suggestion of packing up early and moving on.

"We'll go somewhere more sheltered." she agreed, shivering as Y/n put on a sweatshirt over her pajamas for her. "I kept thinking I could hear people moving outside. I even thought I saw somebody once or twice."

Y/n paused in the act of putting on the sweatshirt on Hermione and glanced out to the silent, motionless surroundings.

"I'm sure I imagined it." said Hermione, looking nervous. "The snow in the dark, it plays tricks on your eyes...But perhaps we ought to Disapparate under the Invisibility Cloak, just in case?"

"I agree." Y/n nodded and he reached out to take out his wand. "Here, use this to pack up inside." He said handing it out to Harry. "I will keep Hermione company."

"Alright." Harry said taking the wand and getting up to head back inside.

"A History of Magic?" Y/n asked Hermione as he kept his eyes on the surroundings.

"Yes." Hermione said looking down at the book in her hands. "I was...reading about Dumbledore and Grindelwald."

"I see..." Y/n nodded slowly. "I do not know relationship they had, but whatever it was Dumbledore would not even look or speak to Grindelwald in Numengard when we were there. In fact I do not think he visited him once in all his time sat in that cell till the day Dumbledore died."

"But why?" Hermione began to ask.

"What the hell?" Harry's voice sounded out from within in the tent getting both's attention.

"Something the matter?" Y/n called to him.

"Your wand...It's...It's not working." Harry called back and Y/n's brow furrowed.

"What do you mean 'not working'?" He asked.

Harry came back out of the tent now. "I only tried to cast Lumos so I could find a lantern in the tent but nothing would happen, even Hermione's wand reacts in some way." Harry explained as he held back the wand.

"That is odd." Y/n said confused.

"All wands are supposed to react to a Witch or Wizard, even if the effects are negative." Hermione said looking at the wand.
