Why Levi found himself being dragged behind the barracks at 11 a.m., he didn't know.

You suddenly came into his room by kicking the door and pulled him out without second thoughts. Now, Levi would've probably drop kicked you but today was still your birthday, so he had to act kind.

Never had he realised that being kind was difficult.

"Oi, where are we going?" He asked but you shushed him. Levi was going to disregard your actions and spoke again, only to be shushed back.

They were walking behind the boys' dorms with stealth, avoiding officers and scouts that roamed around for the night. Levi had no idea what you were trying to do. But even in a sense of irritation, he felt a sort of Deja Vu, like they've done this before. You skillfully sneaked away with Levi and approached on of the boundary walls.

Walking up to it, you laced your fingers together and held them in front of you. "Climb over the wall." You said with a bright grin.

"Tch. I am perfectly capable at doing that on my own." He glared at the woman.

You whined and shook like a little kid. "Come ooonnnnn, Levi." You went ahead to pester him until he finally gave in. With a little cheer, you went back into your position.

Levi placed his hand on your shoulders and placed a foot in your interlocked hands. He was lifted up and swiftly jumped over the walls. He waited for you for a second until your figure appeared right in front of him. You flashed him a smile and took a hold of his hand. Strangely, Levi still felt something at the back of his mind.

He felt like he should know what was going on.

In his state of deep thoughts, he didn't see your finger brushing up his neck. Levi flinched but calmed down when he saw you correcting the collars of his white shirt, only to see that you weren't correcting them. You unbuttoned the first two buttons of his shirt and then pulled his collars upwards. With a pat on his heart, you stepped back and nodded.

"Seems more like the old you." You said.

Oh.

The old you.

Levi suddenly remembered his surroundings alot more better. The route you took from behind the building, the way you hoisted Levi up the wall, the familiar way of dressing, and the road you were currently taking.

That's why this felt so familiar.

He caught up to your retreating figure and clasped your hand with his the same way you had done, only that he firmly returned the squeeze that he hadn't done before. He walked with you side by side, already knowing where the both of your were heading.

With each step, his heart clenched and hurt. The memories of a decade ago washing up into his mind. Despite the overwhelming feelings in his heart and mind, he kept a straight face like he always did. You took a left turn and then were faced by a restaurant Levi hadn't seen in a long time.

No words were exchanged as you went in, and no words were said when you sat at the same table from all those years ago. As Levi took a seat from across you, you went away to place your order at the counter. You were back in a few minutes, and Levi was glad because he didn't want to feel awkward.

"Why here?" Levi asked. Throughout the painful memories he had experienced throughout his life, this one was just straight up bitter. You looked down at your hands, fiddling with your fingers.

"It's been 11 years, Levi..." You muttered.

Levi was well aware of how much time he had spent without the two young people he considered family. He purposefully slid this memory all the way back into his mind because anything that reminded him of them hurt him too much.
