We continue our conversation over lunch.
We took our seats at the dining table and Grandma and I continue talking about each other while Aunt is serving us food.
When we had seated, she started asking me some questions. "Tell me something about your life. Where do you work?"
"I am a graphic designer for two years already. That was my work after I finished college." I answered.
"That's nice. Graphic designers are the one that makes logos, right?" she curiously asked.
"Yes, Grandma. But we do more than that." I explained, "We make visuals for the costumers so they would have more informations about a certain product or service.
"We also make advertising videos for certain products; magazines, and much more other materials needed by our clients for advertising and marketing their products and services."
"Wow! You seem to be intelligent to be in that work, aren't you?" she was amazed when I explained how we do our job.
"Not that much. But we really need to understand how to do such things correctly and to be a professional when being in such jobs like these."
"How old are you now, son?" She asked.
"I'm 26 already." I answered.
"Do you still live with your parents?" she asked.
"I already have my own house in the city. When I was able to save enough, I moved to the city and there I built my own house. I decided to start being independent since then. I have been living there since I started working as a graphic designer, because it was closer to my workplace.
"It would have be nice if I could bring Mom, Dad, and Andrei with me there, but Mom said they're fine. I just occasionally give them some money to help them with their necessities." I said.
"Well, it is nice that you have your own house. Don't you have a wife yet?" she asked.
"I haven't found a woman yet that I love. And I just feel I am not ready to settle down yet." Speaking in a shy manner, while a sudden, awkward smile is shown on my lips.
I really feel I'm not ready to find a woman for me yet. Maybe I won't have much time for her because of my work. Even if she'll be an understanding and considerate girlfriend, or wife in the future, I don't want to make her feel I have no time for her.
"But, why? You are at a legal age. You're already 26. And you can sustain for yourself and your family. What holds you from having a relationship?
"Even your cousin, Mark, haven't introduced a girl to us yet. He also has a stable job now at the car shop as a mechanic, and he's also handsome like you," she chuckled, "though he is just a little chubby, unlike to you who had a robust body similar to your grandfather days back then."
"I don't know. Maybe there are still more things I need to prioritize more than that." I answered.
"Alright. I won't ask anymore. Just continue eating and we'll go to the living room after." She said.
"Yes, Grandma."
"It is nice you are not like other youth these days which rush themselves finding their love and rushing into marriage."
I just smiled. Then we continue eating.
After we ate, Grandma and I went back to the living room and continued talking.
As we were resting on the couch, she saw Aunt Sylvia going to the stairs.
"May you clean the visitors room for Arnold later?" she kindly requested Aunt Sylvia.
She answered while climbing the stairs, "I already have cleaned it yesterday. Arnold can bring his things there now."
"Alright then."
Mark, Aunt Mary's son, later came home from work.
He greeted Grandma. "Hi, Grandma." He kissed her cheek.
He then noticed me, "Oh, brother, hi! It has been a very long time since I last saw you."
"Arnold's here for a vacation. Be nice to him. I know your behaviour." Grandma's warning.
"Oh, Grandma, don't you trust me?" He frankly asked, but his respect was still there for her.
"I do trust you...but sometimes you tend to be unpredictable and naughty. Maybe you'd bring him to your peers and who know what'll happen next. Maybe they'll force him to drink. I know you so I can trust you, but when it comes to your friends, I don't know." Grandma replied.
"No, I won't. I promise you. I'll take care of Arnold while he's with us. He'll be on good hands." He said.
"Well, that would be good. I hope you'll do as you said. You're not that stubborn, I guess."
"Yes Grandma." He agreed.
"I'll go to rest in my room now. I got tired at my work today." He said.
"Alright." Grandma replied.
"You can rest upstairs now as well, Arnold. Your room is next to our bedroom, near the window. You can bring your things there now and rest. And I'll go to my bed as well because I feel sleepy." Grandma said.
"Yes, Grandma." I answered
After that I carried my bags to the said room and rested for a while.
Grandma also returned to her room as well.
I climbed the stairs up to my room, that was near a window. I entered the room and it was nice and spacious.
There are big windows inside, that is closed by glass panes and light yellow curtains. I opened it so I could looked at the window, then a calming environment of gigantic trees and wide farms amused me.
I turned around and in the corner there is a wooden closet, there were palm tree carvings on it. I came close and opened it's doors. I put my clothes there neatly and closed the door quietly.
After I had fixed my clothes there in the closet, I grabbed my phone from my backpack then sat at the bed. The bed is nice and soft. I rested for a while as I check on some emails and notifications I had on my phone. I can still connect to the internet using the cellular data that I bought which will last for a month.
I got bored after checking my emails and I didn't feel sleepy, so I took a walk outside for a while.
It was 4 PM and the sun is not that hot. I got out to walk around the barrio. Everything in the environment is beautiful and peaceful.
As I gaze around, I saw things that were not typically seen in the urban city.
Healthy trees and plants are everywhere. Animals freely gaze around the fields.
Children just play around as long as they want. They can climb on trees, play tag, play with their dogs, freely unleashed, and run around everywhere as long as they want. I even saw some youth riding on horses and bicycles.
Everything is so beautiful and peaceful, only the laughter of the children and the sounds of different kinds of animals are the only noise that lures around the tiny barrio.
I stayed outside and observed everything until the children are done playing and has returned to their homes, because it's getting dark. And so I returned back to the house as well.
