"Carlos!", I spun around when I heard the voice.

I was more than surprised to see Matteo here. He came running straight towards me and I couldn't help but smile. God I missed him so much.

"Hey big guy.", I laughed and tried to catch him, but it wasn't a joyful run towards me. He was panicking and it was clear to see.

"What's wrong? Where's your mom?"

"Mom is not well at all.", the little boy gulped and clearly pulled my hand. I followed him immediately.

"Carlito?", I heard Sarah, but was now completely fixated on Matteo, who pulled me through the people with quick steps.

He pulled me between the buildings, then I could see Elli. My heart started racing for several reasons. I passed Matteo and let go of his hand to squat next to his mother and hold her hair back.

She threw up into a flowerpot. Shaking nervously, I held her hair and stroked her back with my other hand.

"What's wrong, Elli? Do you want me to get someone? Fernando, maybe?"

"Where's Matteo?" she gasped, seeming to catch her breath.

"He's right here. Don't worry. What can I do?", I asked, she slumped forward a bit.

I wrapped my arm around her body and pulled her back again. Carefully, I pulled her back with me and sat her next to me, her back against the wall of the house. She kept her eyes closed. Sweat stood on her forehead while her whole body trembled.

"Do you want me to get Fernando?", I asked anxiously, reaching for her hand, but she immediately withdrew it from me.

"No. No, I'm okay," she mumbled.

"It didn't look like it to me, though," I was still looking at her from the side. She was beautiful, even if she looked very tired.

"Carlito?", Sarah came around the corner.

Elena slowly pushed herself up. I was there immediately to help her up. Her eyes met mine for a very brief moment. My heart was racing. I wanted to stroke her hair, but she took a step away from me and reached out to Matteo, who was immediately with her.

"Who is that?", Sarah had now arrived at our side "Is that that Elena bitch?", she asked.

Elli said nothing. She just pushed past us.

"Well is she trying to bait you with her kid already. What a cheap scam. Pretends she needs help and sends her kid. God I'm getting sick just looking at you.", she went after Elena and grabbed her roughly by the wrist. Sarah yanked her around. Elli looked at her with an expressionless look.

"I didn't send my child, nor did I ask for his help," I was sure I had never heard her voice like that before. She growled formally.

"Yeah right. You little bitch, you stay the hell away from Carlos. Is that clear?"

Elena didn't answer, but wanted to tear herself away from Sarah. Just at that moment, Fernando and a woman also came around the corner.

"I'm talking to you, bitch!" hissed Sarah and pushed Elena, probably a bit cocky, but Elli immediately stumbled and fell.

It didn't look like a bad fall, but Fernando and the woman shot straight to Elli. I was still standing there a little motionless.

"Shit, are you out of your fucking mind, bitch?" the woman hissed, walking toward Sarah while Fernando carefully helped Elli to her feet.

"It it my fault she can't walk and is dropping like a stone?" asked Sarah.

"She's pregnant you bitch! If anything happens to her or the baby, you'll pay for it!" she growled.
