After his encounter with the mysterious scientists and theunsettling revelation about Luigi's condition, Mario knew that heneeded to regroup and seek out some allies. He made his way back toRogueport, the bustling port town where he had embarked on manyadventures in the past.

As he walked through the familiar streets, memories flooded backto him. He remembered the battles he had fought, the treasures he haddiscovered, and the friends he had made along the way. And speakingof friends...

"Mario! Is that really you?" A familiar voice called outfrom behind him.

Mario turned around to see two familiar faces: Vivian, the sassyand spunky shadow siren, and Goombella, the curious and book-smartgoomba. They both rushed up to him and gave him a big hug.

"It's so good to see you guys!" Mario exclaimed, relieved to have some familiar faces by his side.

"We heard about Luigi's kidnapping," Vivian said, herexpression grave. "We're here to help in any way we can."

Mario nodded, grateful for their support. "I could definitelyuse your help," he said. "But first, let me catch you up onwhat's been happening."

He told them about the chaos hearts and the mysterious scientistswho were after them, as well as Luigi's current condition. Vivian andGoombella listened attentively, their expressions growing more andmore concerned as he spoke.

"This sounds serious," Goombella said. "We need tofind out more about these chaos hearts and who's behind all of this."

Mario nodded in agreement. "That's exactly what I wasthinking. But we need to be careful. The scientists who took Luigimight be onto us."

Vivian stepped forward, a determined glint in her eye. "Don'tworry, Mario. We'll be your eyes and ears in Rogueport. If anyonecomes snooping around, we'll be sure to let you know."

Mario smiled, touched by their loyalty. "Thanks, guys. I knewI could count on you."

As Mario walked away, he couldn't shake off the feeling that theywere being watched. He looked around but didn't see anyonesuspicious. However, he couldn't shake off the feeling that somethingwas off.

"Guys, I think we're being followed," he whispered toVivian and Goombella.

"What makes you say that?" Vivian asked, her eyesscanning the area.

"I don't know, call it a hunch," Mario replied, stilllooking around.

Just then, he spotted a figure lurking in the shadows, watchingthem from afar. Mario motioned for his friends to follow him and theymade their way towards the figure.

As they approached, the figure suddenly turned and ran away, disappearing into the crowds. Mario and his friends chased after thefigure, dodging people and objects in their path. They caught up withthe figure near a deserted alleyway.

"Who are you and why were you following us?" Mariodemanded, ready to pounce.

The figure slowly turned around, revealing a shadowy figure with ahooded cloak. "I-I wasn't following you. I was just...passingby," the figure stammered.

Mario didn't buy it. "You're lying. Who are you working for?"

The figure hesitated for a moment before finally speaking. "I'ma spy for the scientists. They sent me to keep an eye on you andreport back to them."

Mario's heart sank. They were one step ahead of him. "What dothey want with the chaos hearts?"

"I don't know. I was just told to keep tabs on you and reportback any information I found out," the spy replied.

Mario considered his options. He could turn the spy in to theauthorities or he could use him to his advantage. After a moment'sthought, he decided to do the latter.

"Alright, here's what we're going to do," Mario said, aplan forming in his mind. "You're going to keep working for thescientists, but you're going to report to us instead. Anything youfind out, you'll let us know first."

The spy looked at Mario skeptically. "And why would I dothat?"

"Because if you don't, we'll turn you in to the authoritiesand you'll be in big trouble. But if you cooperate with us, we'llmake sure you stay out of harm's way," Mario explained.

The spy considered his options and finally nodded in agreement."Alright, you've got a deal."

Mario, Vivian, and Goombella exchanged glances. They had justgained a valuable asset in their fight against the scientists. Butthey also knew that they couldn't let their guard down. The roadahead was long and dangerous, and they had to be prepared foranything.
