It jumped off the bus and ran away followed by the others and we all sighed collapsing to the ground. We slowly got up and headed outside seeing one run off. "What happened" Lucas asked "Steve scared them off" Dustin said "no. No way if anyone scared them off it was Lark and her secret ability" everyone looked at me and Dustin was smiling "Not now Steve" I said and he scoffed "Yes now tell me how you did that" Bear shoved his way through to the front "Because we came from the lab aswell. That girl El you guys know well we are like her. Lila can show people what ever she want them to see and we can move things at will and travel through the darkness. Are you happy you found our darkest secret." Bear grabbed Lila and got back ont he bus.
" Wait so Lucas was telling the truth" Max asked and I nodded "yup but we have more important things to worry about. Those things weren't scared off they were going somewhere." they nodded and we began to head back to Steve's car.
"Are you sure that was Dart" Lucas asked "Yes he had the same yellow patch on his but" Dustin answered and Max spoke next "But he was tiny two days ago" I was more focused ont he fact that Steve refused to look, speak or stand near me and it hurt. "Well he molted three times already" Dustin said "Molted" Steve asked "molted. Shed his his skin to make room for more growth just like corn worms" Steve nodded "When's he gonna molt again" I asked "it's gotta be soon. When he does he'll be fully grown or close too it. So will his friends"
"Yea I get it and he's going to eat alot more then just cats" Steve said sounding upset. "Wait cat" Lucas said stopping Dustin "Dart ate a cat" Dustin looked panicked "What no" he said and it was clear he was lying. "What are you talking about he ate mews" I said confused "Mews who's mews" Max asked "that's Dustin's cat" Steve answered. "Steve" Dustin yelled and Lucas shoved him "I knew it. You kept him"
"no. No. No I no I. He missed me and he wanted to come home" Dustin forced out another obvious lie "Bullshit" Bear said also looking upset "I didn't know he was a demogorgon" Dustin said and this time it sounded like the truth "so now you admit it" Lucas said. "guys who cares we have to go" Max asked and Lucas faced Dustin "I care. You put the party in jeopardy. You broke rule of law" I was confused now. We're they talking about Dnd. "So did you."Dustin yelled "What" Lucas asked and Dustin lifted his torche into Maxes eyes. Why did they keep doing that "You told a stranger the truth" max looked offended "A stranger" she yelled "You wanted to tell her and you told Lark and Bear" Lucas pointed out.
I looked over the kids and saw Steve staring at me. As our eyes met he looked away a frown forming on his face "okay whatever we both broke the rule of law so we're even" Steve started walking of the trail and I frowned looking in the direction he was looking in. "Hey guys" Steve called and I slowly walked up behind him.
The others were still arguing so they didn't hear him "GUYS" I yelled getting their attention. Steve lifted his bat and took off into the forest. I followed behind him and shortly I could hear the others "no no no guys why are you headed towards the sound" Max called but we ignored her question. Walking onto a cliff we could see the entire town but we also heard the things.
"I don't see em" Dustin said and Lucas lifted his binoculars "it's the lab" my blood ran cold and I saw Bear hold on tighter to Lila who had her face buried in his neck "they were going back home" I realized. Steve looked over at me "You don't have to come with" I shook my head "yes I do. We need to finish this" he nodded.
We headed down and made it to the lab. Steve took lead as we left and we heard someone yelling "Who's there" we left the woods and I saw is was Nancy and Jonathan "Steve" they said at the same time "Nancy" Steve asked "Jonathan" Dustin asked after Steve. "What are you doing here" Nancy asked as the pair walked closer to us. "What are you doing here" I asked sencing Steve's anger at the pair being together "were looking for Mike and will" She answered and Jonathan shot me a weird look "they're not in there are they" Bear asked worried for his friends now still holding on tightly to Lila. "We're not sure" Nancy said "Why" Jonathan asked.
