I fell.

After all of my careful steps to get away, I fell.

I am far enough away that it didn't matter, but it hurt.

I had just escaped the rogues in our territory, and I had watched my mother and father die, along with my little brother.

I fell, and all the sadness and stress caught up to me. I just couldn't run anymore.

I howled in sadness at the loss of my family and pack members. My friends, my family, my cousins, my elders. All gone.

I didn't move at all, laying on the forest floor, crying until I fell into a dreamless sleep.

I've been rogue for 4 years now, soon to be five.

My once blemish free face was now marred, from my right eye down to the corner of my mouth, by a thin scar.

I was walking around looking for food, when I heard growling.

Crap.

I sniffed the air and noticed a border that I had accidentally crossed. I was in pack territory now, and I needed to get out.

Fast.

Before I could even think of a plan, I was surrounded by wolves that I assumed were guards. I raised my arms above my head and spoke to the wolf in front of me. I could tell he was the beta by his size.

" I was just looking food. I'll leave your territory now and never come back."

The beta shifted and I looked up, finding the trees very interesting all of a sudden.

" you can look now" he said in an amused tone.

I looked down, and he now had a pair of basketball shorts on.

"You need to see the alpha, and he will decide if you can leave or not."

My eyes diverted to the tree line. I was fast enough that I could make it to the border if I really tried to.

As if he knew what I was thinking, the beta ran and had my arms behind my back before I could even blink.

He started to push me towards their pack house. I knew that the alpha would just want to kill me, and as I thought about it, I realized that I was ready to die. I was ready to be with my family again, but my wolf had other ideas.

She took control, and I could practically feel my eyes changing from their vibrant purple color to her bright orange. She started to struggle as hard as she could to get free.

By the time we got to the pack house, it seemed as if every member of the pack had gathered to see the rogue that their guards had captured.

I sniffed the air, trying to judge how many pack members there were, and I caught the most amazing scent I had ever smelled. It smelled like my two most favorite smells in the world. It smelled like rain and burning wood.

Shit!

My mate is in this pack! I closed my eyes to avoid seeing him. If I saw his eyes, I wouldn't be able to leave.

' mate go find mate' my wolf chanted in my head.

'No!' I yelled at her

' I don't want to leave! I want to stay here and find mate'

I sighed. It would be mean of me to keep her away from her mate. It would kill her.

So with that, I opened my eyes, and began to search for my mate.
