Chapter 4: Saving Brooklyn

"Dad!! Pa!! I'm home!!" I say as I take off my shoes. I hear some rustling and turned my attention to my dad as he wheeled his way over to me in his wheelchair. Due to an accident during work, he lost the ability to walk. Forcing him to retire. So my Pa retired early as well, to take care of him. I decided to stay, to help out by paying bills and stuff. They say I don't need to, but I need to repay them somehow.

"Hey kiddo, how was work?" My dad asked and yawn.

"Exhausting, but nice nontheless. A kid today tried to swim in the touch exhibit, because he wanted to become a stingray." I laugh at the little memory, my dad Joining me.

"Kids these days...I swear. Then again You were a lot worse to be honest...."

"Gee thanks Dad. Where's Pa?" I asked looking for the freckled man.

"I'm in the kitchen!!" I hear him shout

"Uh oh...Not Pa's cooking..." I whispered in fear

"He's getting...better?" My dad try to say to assure me, but even he was doubtful.

"Hi sweetie, Was Work good?" Pa asked as he came out from the kitchen.

"Yeah. It was ok." I smiled as he came over and hugged me. Steve then noticed something in
Y/n's hand, and rose his eyebrow.

"What's that in your hand?"

"Oh, Luigi dropped his phone at Antonio's. I actually plan on giving it back to him. So I need to get out of my work clothes." I explained

"Ohhhh! You mean the green boy who you like!! Aw how sweet." Pa gushed and my cheeks get a bit red.

"No!! We are friends Pa!! F R I E N D S." I spelled out but he gave me a disbelieving look.

"That's what your Dad thought to about me, but he couldn't resist my charm." Steve said dramatically

"More like your annoyingly stupid stubbornness." Travis said with a blank face making Steve gasp

"Don't make me kick you out of the wheelchair and make you crawl yourself to bed!!"

"You love me to much for that." Travis said, making Steve falter immediately. I shake my head with a smile as I went into my room, quickly changing into something comfortable, then coming back out.

"I'll be back as soon as I can. Love you guys!!" I say as I got prepared to leave the house again.

"Love you!! Be safe!!" My dad and Pa said, and I close the door. Walking to my car, I get in, and instead of driving fast, I drove the normal speed limit. There was a bit of traffic, but nothing I'm not used to. Besides it's not that far of a drive to Luigi and Mario's house. Just about 15 minutes.

I parked in a close space, and grabbed Luigi's phone. It's obviously been cracked due to Luigi slamming it early. He'll probably need to fix it at a store...

I walk up the stairs of the apartment complex, thankfully I've been here before when I was younger, so I know where to go. Once I got to the right door, I knock on it and wait. A moment passed. Maybe they didn't hear it? I went to knock again, but the door opened up, revealing the Brother's Mother. Julia.

"Oh! Y/n! What a surprise to see you here?" She smiled kindly and I heard a scrap of a table.

"Hi Julia. Sorry to bother you...it's just uh...Luigi forgot his phone and I was hoping to return it to him...?" I say as I take out his phone, showing her.

"Well of course you can!! Please come in, come in!! Make yourself at home." She smiled, letting me in her house. I saw a bunch of Mario and Luigi's relatives sitting at the table, all of them greeting me, and I greeted back. I saw Luigi, and he was trying to avoid eye contact. It kind of hurt my feelings, but then again I would be embarrassed too if your friend was suddenly at your house with your family. Mainly cause of the stories they could talk about...
