Chapter 8: Jungle Kingdom

Finally. We made it. WE FINALLY MADE IT!!

I could practically feel the excitement yet nervous feeling in my chest. We traveled so far, and I'm tired as hell. But it's all gonna be so worth it!!

We came up to the entrance of the Kong Kingdom, it Oozed suspense as we got closer and closer to it. Stepping up the stairs, Peach turns to us, ready to knock on the door.

"You ready?"

"Ehhh...sure?" Mario responded hesitantly

"Ready as I'll ever be. Let's do this thing." I say, and Peach nodded. She then turned back to the door and gave it a good couple of knocks.

"JESUS-" I scream as a giant blonde ape, wearing a...shirt...? He roared angrily getting spit everywhere. Toad yelped as he hid behind my legs. Then the ape stopped yelling, allowing Toad to peak out behind me with confusion.

"How ya doing...?" Mario asked awkwardly and the Princess just wiped off the spit she got on her face and dress.

"We are here to see the king." She said, straight to the point. The ape glared, getting into her face with a scowl. But the Princess didn't back down, as she glared back.

"Follow me." The ape huffed walking away. We all looked at each other, before following along behind him.

"That gorilla is wearing a sports cuff..." Mario muttered out in shock.

"Feeling underdressed?" Toad teased

"Yeah I noticed that too." I hum as I watched the gorilla start up a kart...what the hell even is logic anymore?!

He put on some sunglasses and leaned there,
"Hop in." He said simply. We all surged towards the kart, trying are best to fit in it. I almost got left behind as the ape floored it, making me scream bloody murder. We began going down a VERY unsafe road, twist and turns everywhere.

"HOLY MOTHER OF-" The rest of my words were cut off as everyone screamed going up the ramp, into the air. Toad the only one cheering in the back as we landed. I tried getting a better footing but a turn came up and I almost fell, if it wasn't for Mario who grabbed my shirt in time.

"THIS IS WORSE THAN YOUR DRIVING Y/N!!" He laughed as he helped me back up and I give him a blank look.

"I AM NOT THAT BAAAAAAAAAA-" I let out more yelling as the ape drifted, Peach too, almost fell but she grabbed onto Mario's face. Poor Mario.

I gasped at the sight of the many roads, as well as the clear water, the greenery everywhere. You definitely can't see this stuff back in Brooklyn. Hell, not even on Earth!! Sure there's nice places but this- can't even compete!!

We went through a tunnel, the speed increasing as we passed a bunch of other apes. We were going so fast the scenery in my vision was nothing but blurry objects. I just hope we don't crash into-

"WAHH-"

I hear crash behind me and saw a poor ape stuck in a hut, his kart completely crushed and messed up. Maybe it's fixable-the entire hut caught on fire. I winced and turned back around. If they ask for witnesses, I wasn't here.

Once again, the ape made a sharp turn, this time Mario got launched off. As well as Toad. Peach gasped and quickly grabbed his hand as Mario held onto the laughing Toad. I saw that she was slipping and I move over helping her bring Mario back in the kart by grabbing his hand as well.

"Oh come on..." I grumbled as another ramp came up, once more the speed increasing as we flew up into the air, all of us grasping onto dear life. We fell for a moment, only for a paraglide to eject, allowing us to float safely over to the King's home. The ape skid to a stop and we all were lunged out. Peach and I landed on our feet, as Mario landed on his face and Toad on his ass.

"Oh by all means!! Come in!!" The king's voice echoed as the ape knights stood straight forwards. Not even paying us any glances. Walking passed them, and then we stood in front of the King. Who sat lazily in his throne, he seemed to be old, but not too old.

"Great and mighty Kranky Kong-"

"So, I heard you want my army." He interrupted, which I scoffed at. That was really rude. I was always taught to never interrupt anyone as they spoke, because it's disrespectful. But Peach didn't say anything, only bowing her head down respectfully.

"Y-yes! Your highness...Without your help the Mushroom Kingdom will be annihilated..." she said, a twinge of fear in her tone and the thought of her only home being destroyed. Kranky Kong hummed before speaking once more.

"What makes YOU think you're worthy of Fighting along side the greatest army in the world!!" He boasted. Is this guy fucking serious right now?!

"Because we have heart!! And with your strength, we CAN win." Peach said determined. But Kranky Kong was barley even paying attention.

"Ok. Fine." He said, but I could hear a edge in his tone. Peach didn't notice it as she perked up.

"That's it?"

"No that's not it!! The answer is, No. Goodbye." He said waving his feet as us.

"Ohohoho...I should kick your ass for that..." I glared as I rolled up my sleeves, but Mario and Toad held me back. Kranky Kong looked in Y/n's direction, noticing a familiar spirit in their eyes, but his attention was back onto the princess as she spoke again.

"If the Mushroom Kingdom falls, then The Jungle Kingdom is next." She pleaded. Mario, finally let go of me and stepped up to the king with a scowl.

"We're not leaving without YOUR army."

"We traveled way to fucking far for you to just tell us-GoOdByE." I mocked as I joined Mario's side. Both of us not backing down. Kranky Kong burst out laughing in his throne staring down at us.

"Who even are these two?! They make me laugh!!" He continued cackling as we watched with unamused expressions. "Alright tough guys. You want my army so badly? Then defeat my son in the Great Ring of Kong!!"

"Give us a second?" Peach smiled falsely as she grabbed Mario and I, huddling up. "This is a really, REALLY, bad idea!!" She whispered

"We're running out of time, and so is Luigi." I say stubbornly and Mario nodded in agreement.

"Do you have any other ideas to save my brother?" Mario whispered, "If so I'm all ears!!"

"Are you three done whispering?! It's a little rude" the King said walking away with his cane. My eye twitched in rage.

"ILL SHOW YOU RUDE YOU MOTHER FU-" My words we're muffled as Peach covered my mouth.

"I like your spirit kid!! Reminds me of an old pal. Maybe it'll be enough to win!! I doubt it." Kranky Kong snorts and I huff.

"You sir, have a deal. We'll fight your son. And WIN." Mario defended

"I'm sure you will." He cackled again, some coughs being heard as well as he was placed in his kart. I looked at Mario, and held my fist out. He looked at me with a smirk, fist bumping my fist.

"Come on Red. We got a fight to win..."
