You're Hot

"Carlos, do you plan on waking up today?" TK teased, walking into their room and laying back in bed beside his fiancé. "Come on, it's 10:30. I already worked out, made breakfast, and cleaned up the apartment."

A whine escaped Carlos' throat as he rolled over and buried his face in the pillow.

"No, come on. You need to get up, sleepyhead." He chuckled, rolling Carlos onto his back. As he did, he realized how hot he was to the touch. "You're really hot right now, do you feel sick?"

Carlos hummed with his eyes still closed. "Are you telling me you don't always think I'm really hot?" He challenged, doing his best to act okay even though the act of simply opening his eyes felt unbearable.

"I'm serious. What's wrong?" TK laid a hand on his forehead. "Is it your head? Your stomach? That stomach bug has been going around; Judd said Charlie and Grace had it the other day. Your throat? I've seen cases of strep a few times this week and Tommy's girls had it."

Carlos didn't answer, instead curling into TK's side for comfort. "I don't know." He sighed softly, his head against TK's chest. "You didn't shower yet, did you?"

TK breathed a laugh. "No, I did not. Excuse the smell and sweat, even though you're now wiping your own sweat on me." He held him close, rubbing his back.

"I'm not sweating?" He disagreed, unsure of himself.

"Yeah you are, baby. A lot. Come on, we need to take your temperature and get some medicine in you." He started to get up only for Carlos to cling onto his shirt.

"Carry me." He whined sadly, TK unable to refuse. He scooped him into his arms and took him to their bathroom.

"Okay, hold still." TK pulled their thermometer out of their drawer and scanned Carlos' forehead. "102.3, that's not good. Here, don't move." He sat him on the counter before turning to rummage through the medicine cabinet.

Carlos sat still, his eyes unopened, before TK spoke again.

"Here, take this." He put a few pills in his hand before filling a plastic cup with water and putting it in his other hand.

Carlos took the medicine on autopilot before reaching out for TK again. TK smiled. Despite the raging fever, Carlos was still cute. He took him into his arms again and took him back to their bed.

"I'm sorry you don't feel good." He sighed, laying down with Carlos on top of him.

Carlos just nuzzled closer, his face against TK's neck. "Thanks for taking care of me."

"It's my honor. Through sickness and health, my love." He reminded him of their upcoming vows, rubbing his back once again. "Want me to turn on a movie or music or anything?"

"No, just keep talking." He requested softly, feeling like he would fall asleep again soon. "Tell me stories."

"About what?"

"You."

"Okay well, uh... Oh! So one day I was in Central Park. I was probably 8 or 9. I told my dad I would come back to him after I was done at the playground but, him being him, he moved from where he had been sitting. So I'm there, feeling lost in this giant park all alone, trying to find him. And I'm assuming the worst, I'm going to be kidnapped any second. And then someone puts their hands on my shoulders from behind me and I about jump out of my skin. So I look up and see my mom. Evidently she was going to meet us at the park to switch custody but then decided to scare my dad for letting me wander alone in the park. So she faked my kidnapping."

"That didn't happen." Carlos exhaled with a small smile.

"Oh it happened alright. My dad was so mad but also so guilty. Turns out he ran into one of his buddies and took a walk with him. He didn't think I'd be done playing so soon."

Carlos breathed a laugh. "Tell me another one."

"Did I ever tell you about the time I had a field trip to an art museum and threw up?"

Carlos shook his head but before TK got into any details, he was asleep again. When TK heard the snoring, he stopped talking and kissing Carlos' head.

"I love you." He whispered, hoping he would feel better when he woke up.
