I’ve been waiting for the tides to change
For the waves to send you my way
I see you darling but you pixilate
It gets hard to take these days
Elliot could stand there with her in his arms forever, but he knew that after everything she had been through recently, she needed to rest. “Why don’t we go to bed?” he asked her quietly. Olivia lifted her head and looked at him incredulously. After a moment he realized what his question had sounded like and panicked “No I didn’t mean it like that!” She couldn’t help but laugh at the panic in his voice. She put her hand on his chest, taking note of how his toned muscles felt under her hand, she couldn’t help but think about how it would feel without the soft cotton barrier of his Henley. “Relax El, I was just messing with you” she said playfully. He breathed out a sigh and shook his head before looking her in the eye, “you’re gonna be the death of me.”But we’ll hold the line, I won’t let go
‘Cause I’ll be there when you can finally make it home
And I don’t mind ‘cause we both know
That we’ll be fine when you can finally make it home
Olivia looked at him with an innocent smile as she turned and walked over to the closet and pulled out a few blankets and a pillow. She placed them on the couch before turning back to him. A wave of uncertainty had washed over his features and left her uneasy.Because when I’m in a room with you
That missing piece is found
You know when you’re by my side, darling
Nothing can bring us down
“What’s wrong?” she asked him, suddenly feeling nervous herself. “Nothing’s wrong it’s just…are you sure you want me to stay? I can just go home, it’s no big deal.” he asked her while maintaining total eye contact. He was trying to read her features, a skill that once came so easily to him, but that was before. She shifted her weight from one foot to the other and looked anywhere but at him. “If you don’t want to stay you don’t have to, it’s up to you. I just assumed that you planned on staying and I…” she said quickly before trailing off and was quiet for a moment. He could tell she had more to say but she was holding back. “What is it Liv?” he asked her gently as he slowly began to walk toward her. He stopped in front of her and placed one hand on the small of her back, gently pulling her closer to him. “I don’t talk about that stuff very often El and after that night with the BX9 attack…I’ve been thinking about it…and I just…” she trailed off again. “Liv” he said urging her on. “It’s stupid El, just forget it” she said trying to pull away from him. “Olivia stop and just look at me, please” he said maintaining his grip on her back. He waited until she looked up at him and he could see the tears beginning to form in her eyes and it felt like a kick to the stomach. She was afraid of being vulnerable with him, and it was his fault. “Liv would it make you feel safer if I stay here tonight?” he asked her quietly. She looked down and nodded. “Then I’m staying here” he said decidedly. Elliot pulled her close and kissed her gently on the top of her head. She let him hold her there for a moment, relishing their closeness for a moment before pulling away. “Good night El” she said as she walked toward her room.
