Hajime Hinata POV
"Thank you, thank you!" Ibuki cheered from the stage after ending what was now the fourth song she's sung since everyone gathered here. We've all been celebrating surviving through the Despair Disease, and it's been about forty minutes since we've started.
I am really happy that everyone is okay and happy, but... My mind can't move on from what F/N told me earlier…
A killing game that happened at Hope's Peak? And we've met before?
What the hell? Is he just making things up to mess with me? But even if I want to believe that… he seemed like he was being serious…
"Anyone up for an encore? Clap once for yes, scream in horror for absolutely!"
Ibuki's shouting into the microphone forced my mind to tune back into what was happening around me.
"PLEASE STOP!! I can't handle any more!" Kazuichi screams in terror with a ghastly expression on his face.
"Again, again!" Hiyoko clapped her hands together, cheering Ibuki on.
"A yes and an Absolutely! Alright, time for my next song: Runaway Bandmate!"
"Ha..." Nagito let out a heavy sigh as Ibuki prepared the next song.
"..."
I couldn't even be bothered to care whether another one of those horrifying songs started playing again.
I really can't focus even when the best possible outcome of the motive happened. F/N left immediately after telling me that, so I couldn't question him at all.
"..."
The only thing keeping my mind occupied other than that is Chiaki playing her games like always while I watched. She sometimes looked up from her handheld to watch everyone enjoy themselves with a smile on her face, but she mostly sat next to me playing games.
"Hey, Chiaki. Wasn't that last song amazing?" Hiyoko had walked over to Chiaki to speak with her. She sat down and scooted her seat close enough to Chiaki to have their shoulders touching.
Huh? Were they always this close?
"Um..." Chiaki paused her game and looked up at Hiyoko.
"Ibuki is definitely... creative with her music."
"...That is one way to put it." I chimed into the conversation without thinking. But I realized that might have been a bad idea. I expected Hiyoko to make some kind of nasty comment, but surprisingly...
"Wow, Hajime. I'm impressed your taste in music is actually worth listening to!" Hiyoko beamed at me.
That definitely sounded offhanded, but... It seemed like she was being genuine.
"Hey, Hiyoko..."
"Huh?"
"You're being... A little nicer than usual. Are you feeling alright?"
I really hope she didn't catch that disease too after all this celebrating we've been doing.
"Huh?! What the heck are you talking about? If you're gonna say something random like that again, don't talk to me." With a huff, Hiyoko turned her face away as she said that.
"..."
She doesn't seem to be infected with the despair disease, so maybe I should leave it at that before she lays into me.
"Well..." Hiyoko began. "I was just thinking about something..."
"What were you thinking about?" I asked. I also noticed Chiaki paused her game again to listen to what Hiyoko was going to say.
