I was about to leave the cafeteria after I was done with eating when I almost bumped into Claire.
Y/N: Oh, Claire, hey.
Claire: Hi Y/N.
She greeted me with a smile.
Y/N: Everything alright? It's been a minute, hasn't it?
Claire: Yeah, I didn't see you anywhere yesterday, but hey, I passed my first exam!
She said with her smile growing wider, which made me smile too.
Y/N: Nice one, congrats.
I shook her hand while she thanked me.
Y/N: Only two left, huh?
Claire: Yeah. The easy one is off the table now. Only the two hardest left.
Y/N: Your next one will be a sports exam, it ain't that bad.
Claire: I hope it ain't.
Y/N: Come on, someone like you shouldn't be worried about an exam like this.
Claire: You think?
Y/N: You look very fit and you have an excellent form, what could go wrong?
Claire: You think- thanks, that's nice of you.
Y/N: Just try to stay calm. If you get nervous, that's when things start getting out of control.
Claire: Did you also have to pass all the exams when you first joined?
Y/N: Yeah, they were easy.
Claire: You look like everything is easy for you.
Y/N: Nah, not everything. I'm not that perfect.
She chuckled.
Claire: Quite the self esteem you got there.
Y/N: And you keep fuelling it with your compliments.
Claire: If that's so, I'm glad to help.
Y/N: When do you have your second one?
Claire: Tomorrow.
Y/N: Already? Oh wow, they really want to take you in as fast as possible.
Claire: You think?
Y/N: Yeah, why else would they make you do all the exams so fast, without even giving you a break?
Claire: Maybe they want me to fail as fast as possible?
She asked with an unsure smile.
Y/N: I doubt that. They have no reason to want that. And even if they do, you'll show them you won't go anywhere.
Claire: Even if I pass the next exam, there's still a third one waiting for me.
Y/N: If your brother was telling the truth, you'll pass.
Claire: He might have overdone it, just a little bit.
Y/N: Have you ever been in a fist fight?
Claire: Yes!
She quickly answered, obviously lying.
Y/N: Are you sure? It kinda seems like you're lying.
Claire: Pfft, why would I? I can defend myself against anyone.
Y/N: Then this all will be a cakewalk.
Claire: Are you saying you'll let me win?
Y/N: I don't need to let you win, you told me you can defend yourself, you'll be just fine.
Claire: That's true...but could you still...not hit too hard?
Y/N: I'm sure you'll be able to dodge most of my hits anyways.
Claire: Of course, I'm just saying this because Chris would probably get pretty mad if you ended up hitting me.
Y/N: Are you threatening me with your brother right now?
I asked with a smile.
Claire: Oh no, I'm just genuinely concerned for your well being. I mean Chris is a pretty strong guy and he can hit quite hard if he gets mad.
Y/N: Wait, how do you know if he hits hard or not? Did he-
Claire: Oh my God, no!
She laughed.
Claire: You're starting to sound just like him.
Y/N: Is that good or bad?
Claire: In that particular case, bad.
Y/N: Is he always like that?
Claire: Like what?
Y/N: You know, a bit too protective.
She sighed.
Claire: He is, not to that extent as he is now but to be fair, this is the first time I'm surrounded by so many guys, so I get why he's being the way he is.
Y/N: I mean, he's your brother, I get that. I would protect my sister too, but I can guarantee you that you're safe here.
Claire: I know, thanks.
Y/N: Or is there something or someone that's bothering you?
Claire: ...No...
Y/N: Claire? Are you sure?
Claire: Yes...
Y/N: It sounds like you're not telling me something.
Claire: It's just...there's one guy that- Nevermind, forget it.
I took a step closer to her.
Y/N: No, no, no. Tell me what happened.
Claire: It's not that something happened. It's just...a guy is being a little bit of a creeper, that's all.
Y/N: Who?
Claire: I don't know any names around here yet.
Y/N: Just tell me how he looks then.
Claire: He had a combat unit badge.
Y/N: What? Okay, that's disappointing to hear. My guys don't do that, except this one guy it seems. Now, how does he look like?
Claire: He's a blonde guy with longer hair.
Y/N: Oh, I think I know who you mean. Little shit.
Claire: Don't be mad at him, he probably doesn't have a lot of girls around him, so he goes crazy when he sees one.
Y/N: What exactly did he do?
Claire: Follow me around, making inappropriate comments, stuff like that.
Y/N: Did he touch you?
Claire: Oh God, no. He couldn't, even if he wanted to.
Y/N: Don't forget he's one of my guys, which means he does have quite some experience with combat.
Claire: And? So do I.
Y/N: Oh yeah, right. Anyways, I'll have a word with him and I'll make sure he won't bother you again.
Claire: Wait! Are you going to hurt him?
Y/N: Hurt him? Come on Claire, what are we? Five years old? I'll tell him to stop and he will stop.
Claire: How can you be so sure about that?
Y/N: Hey, don't forget who the leader of the combat unit is.
I said as I pointed to my leader badge.
Claire: Not sure you'll stay as the leader for too long. There is a new potential leader coming up.
Y/N: You're still keeping that spirit up I see. Good job, keep doing that until we square off.
Her smile faded when I mentioned that.
Claire: Yeah, that'll be fun.
Y/N: Oh yes, it will. Alright, I must be going now, we'll see each other tomorrow.
Claire: Have a nice day.
Y/N: Thanks Claire, you too.
