I used the blade for a quick strike and cut straight through a piece of wood like it was butter.
A smile grew on my face, this weapon is perfect.
I kept hitting and cutting through every hard object that was around me.
It was actually pretty fun to do that. I hope I'll never have to use this blade on a human being but if I do...that guy will die before he'll even realise what the hell happened.
The sound of my blade was cutting through the silence of the dark training room.
It was in the middle of the night, so I can have the training room all for myself.
The enjoyable silence was broken when I heard steps behind me in the distance.
It seemed like someone was trying to be sneaky but failed.
I quickly turned around and pointed my blade to the direction of where the steps came from.
Y/N: Come out, I heard you over there.
"Your hearing ain't too bad."
A man's voice said as he stepped out of the shadows to reveal himself.
I tilted my head in surprise.
Y/N: Chris? What are you doing here? How the fuck did you even get inside?
Chris: Easy to get inside when you have no one guarding the building.
Y/N: What are you talking about? I have two men guarding the entry.
Chris: Really? The only thing I found was a few blood stains, that's all.
Y/N: Really? Maybe you killed them yourself and now you're just making something up?
Chris: Are you stupid? Why would I kill my allies?
Y/N: Allies? You are don't act like an ally to us. Sneaking into our building in the middle of the night. Why did you even come here?
Chris: I know that one of your guys was creeping on Claire.
Y/N: I took care of that problem.
Chris: Claire told me you would. But I don't believe you did.
Y/N: That's your problem.
Chris: Let's be honest. You only care about your unit. You don't give a crap about anything else.
Y/N: This is my job, so yes, I care a lot about my unit.
Chris: Your people are harassing a female colleague and you do nothing about it!
He said, getting louder and angrier.
Y/N: I had a talk with him, he won't ever do that again.
Chris: Talk? You talked with him? A real man would've rammed his fist through his stomach. But what to expect from a scared little boy like you?
Y/N: We both know I would absolutely stomp you in a fight, right?
He laughed. It didn't feel like it was a fake laugh. It sounded genuine. This guy really thinks he's the king of fighters.
Chris: You can make me laugh, I'll give you that.
Y/N: Good, so when will you tell me why you came here?
Chris: I want to teach you a lesson buddy. Let me show you how to punish your men properly.
I put my blade back into my sheath, but before I was able to put my hands up and get into a fighting stance, Chris already jumped at me and threw his fists at my face.
The next day
Claire: Y/N? Are you alright?
Y/N: What? Oh Claire, hi. Yeah sure, what about you?
Claire: I am. I was asking because of your eye.
Oh yeah, the black eye Chris gave me in our fight yesterday night, right...
Y/N: Oh, it's nothing.
Claire: Is it because of me?
Y/N: Uh...no, I don't remember you punching me.
She rolled her eyes.
Claire: I meant was it because you confronted the guy that creeped on me? Did he do this to you?
I laughed.
Y/N: Oh no, not at all. I could break him in half with my left hand if I need to. I got this from a training session.
Claire: Really?
Y/N: Yeah, it happens a lot. You'll get used to seeing me with a black eye.
I joked.
Claire: I hope not. You'll have to take more care of yourself. Protect yourself better or something...
Y/N: Don't worry about it. I'm sure I'll get my second black eye pretty soon.
Claire: What? Why?
Y/N: Well, your third exam, remember?
Claire: Oh! You mean that.
She chuckled nervously.
Claire: Yeah, I'll totally kick your ass.
Y/N: I'm looking forward to finally see you fight. So when exactly is your second exam?
Claire: In about ten minutes, I think.
She looked up to a clock on the wall.
Claire: Oh shit, five actually.
She corrected herself, getting a worried look on her face.
Y/N: Hey, don't worry about it, okay? You'll be absolutely fine.
Claire: Yes...absolutely...I'll be absolutely fine.
She repeated my words like she was trying to convince herself.
I gently put my hands on her shoulders.
Y/N: You can do this. It's easier than you think, you have no reason to be nervous, okay? Not a single one.
She nodded.
Claire: It's just...Chris promised to come with me. Y'know, to cheer for me. Motivation and stuff.
Y/N: So where is he?
Claire: I don't know. I messaged him like a thousand times now, but he's not even responding.
Y/N: Well, maybe he's busy or something?
Claire: I have no idea what he would do now, especially since he promised me that he'd be with me.
Y/N: What about me? I could go with you.
Claire: Yeah- what? Are you being serious right now?
Y/N: Absolutely. I mean, I can cheer for you and I hope I'll be enough to motivate you.
Claire: Aren't you busy?
Y/N: Uh...no, I'm free right now actually.
Claire: Thanks, that's very sweet of you. Whew...now I'm getting even more nervous.
Y/N: Oh please, there's no reason for that.
Claire: What if I fail in front of you? That'd be so embarrassing.
Y/N: First of all, you won't fail and secondly, you don't have to be afraid to fail in front of me, I'd be the last person to laugh at you.
Claire: Promise?
Y/N: Super promise. Now, come on, let's go.
Claire: Thanks for coming with me.
She thanked me with a smile.
Y/N: No need to thank me for that.
