It should come as no surprise to anyone that Mei and Izuku finished programming the translator within the hour, yet that fact still shocked most of the crew. Now the translator wasn't perfect by any means, but it could listen and learn words at the same rate as Izuku, if not faster. And that's saying something seeing as he picks up languages like a kid picks up candy.
Since the programming on the translator was finished Mei decided to start working on some other baby she had in her ship, though Izuku didn't know what exactly it was.
"What do you think Mamadoriya's doing right now?" Mei asks.
"Knowing her she probably realized where you went but knew she couldn't follow you. At least not yet," Izuku said, humming thoughtfully. "Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she reclaimed her old job."
"Her old job? What was that?" Mei asked, vibrating in excitement.
"She never told me exactly what it was, just that she was one of the most powerful people in Japan.""Mamadoriya's great."
"What are you two hatchlings talkin' about?" Hi'ashi inquires.
"We were talking about our Mama. Um, the one who raised(?) us."
"Oh, you mean your zkboxd?" Hi'ashi asked. It didn't take much effort to deduce the word he said was 'parent'. Hi'ashi then looked at the two inquisitively. "You said 'the one', so do Dankuth only have one parent?"
"No, most have two."
"Ah, so you also have Ailerus and Olemos on your planet?"
"Ailerus and Olemos?" Izuku repeated in confusion before turning to Mei. "Could that mean 'mothers' and 'fathers'?" Mei just shrugs in response.
"Ah, hatchling," Hi'ashi starts, catching Izuku's attention. "Ailerus are the parent that is more family driven and loving while Olemos are the ones that tend to protect and provide for their young. A few species have one patent that does both, and we call them Olerus."
"On Earth most parents do both. It depends on both the parents and the culture. Our Mama would probably be considered an Oleru. Mama loves and protects us. By now she probably has done something crazy like overthrow the government or something else like that."
"I'm sorry, you think Mamadoriya did WHAT?" Mei screeches, making Hi'ashi flinch and cover his ears(?).
Does he even have ears? Um...- No Izuku. Now is not the time to question alien anatomy.'
"You think your Oleru did what?" Hi'ashi questions.
"I don't know how to say the words. It doesn't matter anyway, I don't know if it's even true."
"Okay then..." Hi'ashi says. "A'zawa and I have some news for you, but apparently he's too busy being an Aileru at the moment."
"Um, should we separate him and Chikai?"
"No, that'll just make it worse," Hi'ashi explains. "It's better to just leave him be for now. Once his instincts settle down it'll be fine. It's not just Chikai anyway. He also sees Eri as his kit, it's just that his imprint on Eri took longer to develop, but now due to him imprinting on Chikai he realized that he imprinted on Eri too."
"Oh, ok then."
"Back to what I was saying," Hi'ashi takes a breath before looking at Izuku with a serious(?) expression. (It's kinda hard to tell emotions on an alien bird's face). "We cannot take you back to your planet. Earth, as you call it is both deadly and forbidden for us to go near. We cannot even enter your system without permission given tsutens in advance. Your planet doesn't even have a name for us, it is just known as Deathworld Level Ten because it is uninhabitable to all species not native to the planet."
Hi'ashi pauses and Izuku just looks at him, slightly horrified. Mei stares in confusion and concern, not understanding what was said, but worried about her brother's reaction.
"Until we get approval from the OSPA or other Dankuth make contact looking for you we cannot return you," Hi'ashi explains. "A'zawa and I talked to our boss and figured out what you and your cscdob could do in the meantime."
"Your boss?" Izuku asked. "Didn't you say that you work for the OSPA?"
"Yes, but we also work at UA," He explained. "It's a cmryyv. That's a place to learn."
"Oh, a school, got it."
"What about a school?"
"Our boss, Nedzu, offered both you and your sister a place at the school until you are able to return home. We offer HERO courses, that's training for the job A'zawa, Nigh'eye, and I do. We also offer general and building courses you could take. Nedzu is a Smeidama, so you can trust that your learning is in good paws!"
"That sounds great," Izuku starts. "But could I talk to Mei about it before we decide?"
"Of course hatchling! Take all the time you need." Hi'ashi proclaims. "I'm going to go find A'zawa and make sure he hasn't fallen completely into his instincts. Let me know when you've made a decision!" And just like that Hi'ashi leaves, leaving the two humans alone.
"So, what was that about?" Mei asks, glad to finally be able to get some answers.
"They can't take us back to Earth," Izuku starts. "Even if they knew the directions they need some sort of prior permission from their government to even enter our solar system. And apparently, Earth is deadly to all alien species anyway!"
"Oh..." Mei said, sounding a bit defeated, before brightening. "Maybe I could fly us back! I have my ship!"
Izuku turns and stares right into Mei's eyes. "Mei, as much as I love you and your inventions, it is a miracle that THAT ship held together through the atmosphere, let alone god knows how long of space travel. AND that was when you had a destination from the tracker. We wouldn't last just aimlessly flying around in hopes of finding Earth. It's better to just wait for Mom to show up, because she will show up."
"So what do we do in the meantime? We can't just bum out here can we?"
"No, we can't," Izuku told her. "Hi'ashi made a pretty good offer actually. Apparently, he and A'zawa are teachers and he offered us a place at their school. He said that there was a building course you could take if you didn't want to just take the general courses. Also, apparently they teach how to be a HERO, which is the job that Hi'ashi and A'zawa have."
"That sounds fun!" Mei exclaims. "We should do it!"
