~~~~Hailee's POV~~~~
'Okay, Hailee. Don't freak out. You can do this.' I've been telling myself the same thing all day, and I'm still no closer to calming down.
"She's gonna say yes, Haiz." Griffin puts a hand on my shoulder.
"I mean, is she? I did accuse her of cheating on me." My fears boil up, and I think of every way this could go badly. What if she hasn't forgiven me?
"That was over a year ago. I'm pretty sure she'd have left you by now if she was still mad," He assures me. "I'm surprised she hasn't figured it out yet though. How'd you hide this big of a production from your assistant?" He gestures at the elaborate collage and decor I had set up in the backyard. There are flowers everywhere, specifically tulips, because y/n loves them. Pictures of us are everywhere, and there's a gorgeous dinner set up by the pool. I'm actually really proud of getting this done without her noticing. "Not to mention the production atMom and Dad's."
"I actually had dad help me. Said we were doing a new workout plan that would mean longer workouts, and used the time for this. He was in on it in case she asked him anything about our 'new workout routine'. Plus, I needed some help with the romantic stuff.Mom helped with that."
"Smart. No wonder you've been at mom and dad's for workouts so often lately." He grins knowingly.
"Mom told you?" I ask, annoyed.
"Is dad incapable of letting a secret slip?"
"I guess not," I shrug. "Plus, I got her a spa day and a makeup and hair appointment for our anniversary and said it would be for dinner somewhere fancy. That way she's all prettied up for the pictures and the other surprise." I wiggle my brows at him. He high fives me. "Okay, I'm ready. Is your photographer friend hiding?" I ask him, hoping to get him out of here before y/n gets home.
"Yes, I'll be on standby to sneak him out the back gate," He gives me a big hug. "I'll get out of here before I ruin the surprise." He runs inside, and I jump up and down a little to shake out my nerves. This is it! Minutes later, I hear y/n through the back door, calling for me.
"I'm out back!" I inform her, and promptly kneel. This is really happening right now, holy fuck. Here we go!
"Hail? I thought we were going to dinner. What're you doing out-" She cuts off when she comes outside, her jaw dropping almost comically with surprise. She takes in all of the decorations, tears forming in her eyes. "Hailee-" her eyes become saucers when she notices me by the table on one knee.
"Hi, y/n," I'm already getting emotional, shit. Keep It together.
"What-?" she can't finish the question, it's like she's in shock.
"First, Happy Anniversary. Second, Knowing you has been the highlight of my life. Loving you has been incredible. The past two years being with you, navigating all of the complications of being in the spotlight together has been tough, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. You're the most amazing person I have ever met. The most beautiful person, inside and out, and I can't imagine spending the rest of my life in anyone else's arms," I take a steadying breath before pulling the ring box from my pocket. "Will you marry me?" She sucks in a sharp breath, and I see her jaw start to tremble before she presses her lips together and squeezes her eyes shut.
"Yeah," She says as she opens her eyes again, nodding excitedly. "Yes!"
"Yes?" I ask, and she holds her left hand out toward me.
"Yes." She has tears streaming down her cheeks now as she beams at me. I slide the ring on her finger and it fits perfectly. I look at it for a second, savoring the moment before she pulls my hands up so I'll stand. She grabs my face while I'm still a little bent over and kisses me, hard. I lift her up so I can stand fully, and her feet lift off the ground. When I finally lower her back onto her feet, she slides her hands down my neck and shoulders and squeezes my biceps. "Is this real?"
"I sure hope so." I gesture toward the table and the dinner that's prepared for her. "How do you feel about having dinner here, fiancee?" When I call her that, she beams again.
"I'd have dinner anywhere with you, fiancee." She gives me a soft kiss before sitting down and taking a sip of her wine. Dinner is immaculate, and we can't stop smiling at each other. When we're both finished, I reach for her hands.
"Okay, I have to tell you, there is another surprise I have planned."
~~~Y/N's POV~~~
We pull up to Hailee's parent's house, and I am getting anxious. What is she planning? It doesn't look like anyone's home, but after the surprise proposal she pulled off, I have a feeling this is going to be crazy. We make our way to the front door and when she opens it, I'm nervous as ever. The lights are off, and I don't hear anything as we step inside and she hangs her keys up.
"Hail- what?" I start to ask, and the lights burst to life. Suddenly, there are people everywhere, yelling "Surprise!" When I recover from the shock, I realize who all is here. Taylor is front and center with my mom. The rest of my family is taking up the entire foyer, Hailee's parents and Griffin are next to my mom, and the rest of her family is spilling into the living room. I run to hug my mom, Taylor joining us after a second. I hear a loud pop and turn to see Florence with a bottle of champagne, standing next to Hailee, who's holding two glasses. Everyone gives them their full attention, having been startled by the cork.
"Okay everyone! Before we get the anniversary party started, I have an announcement!" Hailee addresses the room, an enormous grin on her face. I can't believe she got everyone to come here just for our anniversary. "Baby, come here for a sec." she stage-whispers, and when I slide over next to her, she grabs my left hand and holds it up. Damn, she's way too good at pulling off elaborate surprises! "I just asked y/n to marry me, and she said yes!" The whole house erupts into cheers, and my mom and Hailee's mom both throw their arms around us. Flo pours us champagne, Hailee hands me one before clinking our glasses together. "Here's to forever."
"Forever," I agree, and we seal the toast with a drink.
