*Cassidy POV*

"Okay, do you have everything you'll need?" Nidhi goes to rub a hand down my arm, but she stops her movements before her skin touches mine.

I look around to all the people standing by the front door with me. Edward and Mateo lean against the far wall, talking amongst themselves. Rowan and Asher lean against the wall directly beside me, they compare weapons, as they're dressed in all black. Nidhi and Jayden stand in front of me, reassuring me that everything will be alright.

"I think so." I look down to Elizabeth, who's in a brand new car seat that Jayden made Nidhi buy this morning.

Jayden sent out Nidhi and Banks this morning with a list he had me compose of things that I would need for a newborn, immediately. Like diapers, clothes, formula, those sorts of things. I didn't tell Jayden that I could easily buy it all myself when I got to the shitty apartment, but for some reason, I didn't want to give away how much money I have.

"All the bags of stuff you'll need are in my SUV, I'll drive you back to your apartment with Rowan and Asher following behind us. They'll keep watch for a few days or so, if your husband doesn't contact you by then, I'll send Edward and Mateo to switch places with them." Jayden's tone is all business as his hands stay firmly in his black suit pants pockets. "We'll make sure you're protected, Cassidy. You'll have no reason to worry."

I've been worrying since the meeting I was forced to go to. It'll be nice to get out of here, out of this house, out of this situation, but I'm stuck thinking about the situation I'll be in once I leave.

What happens if I do reconnect with Corbyn? Will he be happy to see me, or will he be angry that I left? I've felt guilty about leaving him since the moment Jonah suggested it, but I felt like it needed to be done, and look where that's gotten me?

"Cass?"

My eyes snap from the sleeping girl that's cozy in her car seat, to all the people surrounding me. Banks is nowhere in sight, and I'm almost thankful that he's not here, it almost makes it easier.

"It's almost ten, we should go if you want to make it home before midnight." I nod to Jaydens voice, and Nidhis arms wrap around my torso.

"I'm going to miss you girls." I nod lightly, giving her a light hug in return.

I don't know if I'll really miss this place, or the people here. I can't say I've had any decent memories in the last few weeks, that'll make this stay memorable.

"I'll miss you too." So, I lie.

"Okay, okay, my turn." I can't help but giggle as Asher drags Nidhis hands off my back and replaces them with his own.

"Thank you for not using the tongs." I wrap my arms around Asher as he scoffs.

"They would've worked." He mumbles, releasing his grip from me.

"Anymore sappy goodbyes, or are we good to go?" Jayden's mood today, hasn't been the greatest, but I'm not letting myself think that it's because I'm leaving. There's something underlying there, and I refuse to believe that it's got anything to do with me.

"Okay, geez man, just let me grab-"

The sound of shattering glass cuts off Asher's humorous tone, and everyone's head turns towards me, where I assume the window broke behind me. My eyes, go straight ahead, to Mateo, who's got blood dripping from his throat.

Panic and chaos rises around me, but my eyes don't leave Mateos, as he begins to slide down the wall he's leaning on. As his butt hits the ground beneath him, the light leaves within his eyes.
