I know I should let it go.
Every picture, memory,
Smile, and touch
That you ever gave me.
It won't hurt as much
If I finally let it go.
But if I drop the weights
That you left on my shoulders
And the scars you left on my heart
Then I lose the only
Reminders that you existed;
How you loved me
As I so deeply love you.
So if I have to hold onto
The burning in my mind
And the pain in my chest
Just for a piece of you
Then so be it.
