Running

I run from your shadow

Like if it gets too close

It could swallow me whole

And pull me under.

Yet when my heart searches

For another love to heal my tired soul,

Your darkness is already there, lingering.

You've broken something within me

And now I don't know how

To breathe without the

Presence of your pain.
