The significance of this moment was not lost on me. As Dimitri's proposal to join me for our first doctor's appointment hung in the air, I felt a flutter of anticipation mixed with trepidation.
The prospect of sharing such an intimate and important moment with him was both thrilling and intimidating. It was a clear indication of Dimitri's commitment not just to our baby, but also to me, and that thought filled me with a sense of warmth and comfort.
The doctor looked up and asked, "So this is your second doctor's check-up?"
Without missing a beat, I confidently replied, "Yes." But before I could say anything else, Dimitri interjected with a contradicting answer, "No."
I shot him a scowl, knowing that he was purposely trying to ruffle my feathers. "What do you mean, 'no'?" I asked him, trying to keep my composure.
Dimitri defended himself, saying, "The first check-up wasn't really a check-up considering the doctor was a degenerate and didn't know what he was doing at the time."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. "He knew exactly what he was doing, Dimitri. He's delivered countless babies," I snapped back, my frustration mounting.
As we stood there, locked in a glaring contest, Dimitri's words cut through the tension like a knife. "Whatever I say goes," he declared, his smug expression betraying his desire for control. Despite my strong will, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of attraction to him.
His plump lips and muscular physique were everything my body craved, yet my disdain for him was equally palpable.
The doctor's interruption was a welcome relief, but it only added to the sense of unease in the room. It was clear that Dimitri had his own agenda, and he was determined to assert his dominance over my pregnancy. I bristled at the thought of him trying to take over something so personal and intimate.
As the doctor tried to mediate between us, I couldn't help but reflect on the complicated nature of our relationship.
Despite our mutual dislike, there was an undeniable chemistry between us, a tension that seemed to simmer just below the surface. It was a dangerous game we were playing, and I wasn't sure how it would all end.
Dimitri might be tempting, but I refused to let him control my life or my body. I was the one in charge, and I wouldn't let anyone else dictate my choices.
"During my first check up doctor Domenico-" I immediately stopped getting a dose of Dimitri's hard glare my way.
"I dare you to utter his name once more, and I'll personally make sure he's taking a dirt nap," Dimitri calmly spoke but his words dripping with venom.
Despite my efforts to maintain a calm exterior, Dimitri's explosive outburst had left me feeling devastated. I couldn't help but feel horrible as he cursed me in front of the doctor, my eyes tearing up as he aggressively spoke to me.
It was clear that he didn't have enough respect and heart to see that I was pregnant with his child and needed to be handled delicately. As I struggled to hold back my tears, Dimitri's eyes widened in discomfort.
His eyes widened about to see me cry and he immediately got uncomfortable with me crying.
"There, there Rena," Doctor Silas said, patting me on the shoulder in a soothing manner. I sniffled, feeling a sense of comfort in the doctor's kind gesture.
Dimitri's expression immediately darkened at the sight of the doctor's hand on my shoulder. "Could you get on with this? I don't have all day," he hissed at the doctor, his eyes daring him to touch me again. But Doctor Silas wisely refrained from patting me on the shoulder once more.
