The entrance ceremony... how do I put it? It was extremely boring. There wasn't much to entice the first years so a lot zoned out. Minus class a. The majority of Arisu's class was staring and listening intently to the speeches from the Principal and directors. Our class was mixed in listening and zoning out but we all seemed cheerful, unlike class a. Class c and d were the total opposites.
After the ceremony ended I looked over to Ichinose, "Are you headed to the dorms?" I asked.
70-80% of the students already had started heading for the dorms, probably tired and bored from the ceremony, whereas the other percentage formed small groups and walked to cafes and karaoke rooms.
"I was going to go buy some stuff, what about you?" She replied, asking me the same question.
"I was also planning on doing that, would you like to accompany me?" She nodded and we walked in comfortable silence to the convenience store.
We walked around together, getting small glances from those in our year. First, we went to the shampoo area and I put in the least expensive shampoo I could find, her doing the same,
"I thought girls paid more attention to what shampoo they used. Unless that's just me stereotyping girls," She looked at me funnily but shrugged,
"I can't go spending the money willy-nilly, we've been given this ridiculous allowance but I still need to learn how to regulate and keep my money in check." She replied. That is valid reasoning, "Oh, Ayanokouji-kun, I don't think I have your contact number." She realized. I took out the school-given device and we exchanged numbers.
My first friend and the first number on my phone. I'm enjoying life at school right now if I'm being honest.
I walked around a bit, drifting from Ichinose, and found myself in the cup noodle area. I've never actually tried them. The chefs back at home usually just made gourmet and delicious food, but I don't think I've had a takeaway or bad food.
I took one that had G-Cup written on it. It stands for Giga Cup and it is quite large. I then took a few smaller ones which were less expensive.
"That many noodles?" Ichinose appeared from behind me peering in my basket, "That's pretty unhealthy Ayanokouji-kun, are you going to eat them every day?" She asked.
"I can't cook for the life of me, so I guess so." I shrugged, putting a few more cups into my basket.
She laughed, "I could teach you if you want. I'm pretty good myself." She said.
"Really?" I asked.
"Just think of it as payment for giving me a ride to school. You'll have to pay for the ingredients though." She smiled. I nodded. She was thinking for a moment but then opened her eyes,
"How about I teach you and you make me lunch so I can see your improvements throughout the time?" She said, "I'll pay for the ingredients for the lunches though!" I pondered on that for a short while and then agreed,
"Sure, why not?"
This way, I'll learn how to cook and have someone reliable to tell me the truth based on how it is. It's a win-win for me if I'm being honest.
As we continued to look around, I saw something unusual. In the corner of the convenience store, I saw individual portions of food and supplies.
At first glance, they looked the same as everything else, but with one major difference, "Free...?" I glanced to my side to see Ichinose take an interest and pick up one of the items. Daily necessities such as toothbrushes and bandages were put in a bin labeled 'free of charge'. The bin also had the words, '3 items per month' written on it, it's obvious that these were different from everything else in the store.
