Death is quiet in heaven. Faint clouds dust the air like sugar, and the sun glows ever radiant in the distant sky.

"What are you doing out here?" A small voice calls to me from behind, and I tilt my head to respond.

"I was just thinking about the past, Hanami," I tell her, "It would have been harder to concentrate with all the noise inside."

"I see. Well, Akai, you can't fix the past nor redeem your family, just as I can't save mine. You know as well as me that the future we watch is anything but ideal for us," Hanami states with ultimate resolve.

I dip my head in defeat and lay my head upon the clouds that lie below the sky. I wish I could change something. I wish I could find a way for both me and Hanami to be happy.

Act 1.

Of the Shadows that Remain Unmoved

"Bow your heads and kneel before me, if you hold any value whatsoever in your pitiful lives," I hear my brother, murderer, whatever you want to call him yelling to the lower moons. I twirl a strand of my black hair in my hand and sigh.

"I wish I could talk some sense into the idiot and help the world be at peace, but like hell that would ever happen," I groan in frustration.

"I have an offer for ya in that case!" A young girl with pale white hair and eyes that swirl in hues of orange and yellow says with a grin.

"K-k-kami-sama???" I yelp, startled and taken aback, "Why on earth are you here?"

"Well, earth seems to be in great peril, more so than in prior eras. I can't bear to watch as the world slowly falls into ruin, so I have come to beg for your compliance. Also, you can really just call me Sayaka you know," Kami, or Sayaka I suppose, says dropping the childish act.

"I see...so what might it be that you need my assistance for? I can't begin to imagine what I am capable of that you are not," I state complacently.

"I'll get straight to the point. I need you and Hanami to return to the realm of the living and nullify the danger that is currently at its peak. I have no further guidance but I shall pray for your success," With that, Sayaka disappears into the clouds with a smile upon her pale face, "Oh, and one last thing. You won't be human."

"Sayaka! Sayaka wait what do you mean??? Sayakaaaa!" I scream but I fail. There's no way she didn't hear me. Well shit. I forgot that Sayaka liked messing with people. I need to find Hanami quickly and warn her. I need... I need to... f...in...d...hana...
