(We start out with Dr. Fate's voiceover talking to Jaime about the Blue Beetle's in the past)

NOTE: In this episode, it will be sort of a break from Jaime's story to talk about the two other Beetles that Dr. Fate was talking about

There have been three different characters who have taken on the mantle of Blue Beetle:

The first Blue Beetle was Dan Garrett, was a police officer who discovered an ancient scarab while on an archaeological dig. The scarab gave him superhuman strength and agility, as well as the ability to fly. Dan Garrett first appeared in 1939 in Mystery Men Comics #1.

Ted Kord was a genius inventor and the protégé of Dan Garrett. Ted Kord did not have any superpowers, but he used his intelligence and technology to fight crime. He first appeared in Captain Atom #83 in 1966.

The third Blue Beetle is the one we're learning about now which is Jaime Reyes, a teenager from El Paso, Texas, who discovered the scarab that had previously belonged to Ted Kord. The scarab bonded with Jaime and gave him a suit of armor with a wide range of powers, including flight, energy projection, and healing. Jaime Reyes first appeared in Infinite Crisis #3 in 2006.

NOTE: The scene with Jaime is a cropped down for the next episode
