(Silo’bov’s POV)
Once Tsireya calmed down, I pulled Jake inside of his hut.
“I’m sorry that you were dragged into what happened, it d-”
“Silo’bov,” Jake held his hand up, “Don’t apologize for things that aren't your fault”
“But it was my fault. If-if I hadn’t told you and Neytiri about my parents, then you wouldn’t have known anything and-”
“Exactly.” Jake said. “We wouldn’t have known anything. Silo’bov, this is serious”
I sighed and looked at Tsireya and Aonung sitting on the beach, “All I’ve ever wanted to do, was protect them from my patents. But how can I protect them, when I can’t even protect myself?”
“You didn’t fight back with your father because you respect him, not because you’re weak”
“But I-”
“But nothing Silo’bov”
Jake smiled at me, “Why don’t we go hunt?”
“What?”
“Let’s go hunt. I’ve heard that you’re the best of the whole clan”
I smiled at Jake but then stopped smiling when I remembered what just happened.
“No, I-i can’t hunt right now”
“Why not?”
“I need to make sure Tsireya’s okay. What if something happens to her?”
“Nothing will happen to your sister, she’s with Aonung”
“Do you promise?”
“Promise” Jake smiled.
{THREE HOURS LATER}
“WOO!” I yelled once I reached the surface of the water
Jake came up a few seconds later and started coughing. I laughed at him
“Maybe you should have gone to breathing lessons”
He gave me a mocking smile and then splashed water at me. I gasped and wiped the water from my face. Now Jake was the one laughing.
“What’s wrong? The reef prince can’t take a splash to the face?”
I grinned and joined Jake in his laughter. Once we stopped laughing he smiled at me and said, “Y’know Silo’bov, you’re a great kid”
“I try my best”
We continued to swim until we reached a big rock that stood out of the water
“So,” Jake started, looking over at me from where he was sitting, “what’s going on with you and my son?”
Play dumb Silo’bov. Play. Dumb.
“What, Lo’ak? He’s like a little brother to me, he’s really fun to hang out with”
“Not Lo’ak. Neteyam.”
“I-i d- there’s noth-” I sighed and looked up at Jake, “I don’t know”
“What do you mean? He likes you, you like him, get together”
“It’s not that simple” I sighed and looked out at the ocean
“How so?”
“I’m scared”
“You, the great Silo’bov, might reef prince, are scared of a relationship?”
I nodded, “Last time didn’t go too good.”
“What happened last time?”
“I dated this girl a couple years ago, and it started out amazing”
“Started, which means it changed”
“Yeah. She would always get so jealous when I talked to anyone, even guys. Which I found weird, but I didn’t wanna say anything to upset her”
I moved to get a more comfortable position on the rock
“I always knew she was cheating on me, but I never did anything about it because I thought I loved her. But I don’t really know what love feels like because my parents were… well y’know”
Jake nodded. I started to fiddle with my hands.
“Well uh, she’d always force me to go to parties and drink. And at first, I hated it. But then I realized that drinking made all of the pain that she caused me go away. I know it’s not the smartest thing, but it works for me”
I looked over at Jake and saw how focused he was on what I was saying. My father never paid attention to what I said, so this was kind of nice.
“We were together for about two years at this point, the whole time I hated it, but I stayed because I didn’t know how to leave. She kept on pestering me about mating because she was convinced that we belonged together, when really she just wanted someone she could control”
My eyes started to water and Jake put his hand on my shoulder
“Then what happened?”
“She-she uh, she kept on getting angry every time that I said no. So one night she dragged me to a party, I started to drink what she gave me but then I felt off. My vision was going hazy, I couldn't feel parts of my body.”
I looked down at my hands and took a deep breath. Tears started to fall from my eyes
“She took me down to the beach and uh…”
“She mated with you without your permission?” He questioned.
I shook my head no. “She r*ped me.”
