Chapter 5

The day went by pretty much uneventfully.

~Hey Lightning~ Phoenix said, ~How about when we get back we do something new I came up with.~

~What's that?~

~Why don't we try to teach each other how to use telekinesis, how to fly, and so on. Maybe then we'll learn something new from each other and we might even develop new powers.~

~OK~

"How do you use telekinesis?" Lightning asked.

"It's pretty simple. You have to focus completely on the object you want to lift and will it to lift."

"Like flying?."

"That's how you fly?" Phoenix asked.

"Yeah! You just will your body upwards."

~OK.~ Phoenix said,~ Let me show you how to lift a phone.~ He stared at his phone and it slowly lifted.~Now you try.~

Lightning concentrated on her phone, she willed it upward and sure enough it lifted. "Can you lift people?" She asked.

"I haven't tried. Usually I only lift small objects. Why don't you try to lift me?"

Lightning stared at Phoenix. He lifted a couple inches of the ground.

"Whoa!" He said. Lightning lost focus and he fell.

"You distracted me,"she said.

"I had a good reason. You eyes flashed light blue again."

"They did?"

He sent her a mental image of her face. Sure enough, her eyes looked blue.

Later the were sitting in the shade, worn out from practicing.

"Hey, Lightning," Phoenix said, "Why do you have the one side of your face covered?"

"It's a long story."

"I can wait."

"You better not tell anyone." Lightning's face was covered with a lightning bolt shaped scar. "They say the Dragess is supposed to be born with some kind of a mark. Well, I was born with blue hair and this scar. It's how my parents decided what to name me."

"Maybe you are the Dragess," Phoenix said quietly.

"I don't have a dragon."

"You might get one for your birthday. You never know."

"My birthday is not until November 13th."

"Well mines not until May 7th."
