-Rayne-
After I pretended to be asleep for four hours, Juliet woke me up and demanded that we go to the park.
Before I knew it we were at the park, and Juliet was pressuring me to jump off the swing.
"Come on, Rayne! Jump!"
I shook my head... Suddenly, I felt a push from behind and went flailing into the air.
WHAM! My head met a huge rock. Tears leaked from my eyes and my head throbbed.
"Are you okay?" An unfamiliar voice asked me. I looked up, but everything was dizzy.
My eyes finally focused and I saw a blonde haired boy staring down and me.
"Uhhh... My head hurts. But I'll be okay." I answered.
"Okay..." Bright blue eyes lit up his face. "I'm Zach, by the way."
Zach... Why was that name so familiar?
"I'm Rayne."
"That's a pretty name..."
"Thanks, I guess."
"Who are you and why are you talking to my sister?!?" Juliet's voice echoed through my ears. Of course she should be worried, no boy ever talked to me.
"Why should you care!?! You're the one who pushed her off the swing! What kind of sister does that?" He yelled angrily.
Juliet blinked. Nobody had ever stood up to her. Let alone stand up for me. Everyone just let her bully me and was too afraid to say anything.
She walked off angrily towards her favorite tree and started to climb. Once she reached the top, she gave us a dirty look.
"Zach, can I ask you something?" I asked him warily.
"Only if you promise me that you're okay."
"Okay, I promise. Why'd you do that for me?"
He looked at me with pity in his eyes. "No one deserves to be treated like a toy. Not even you."
.....
I walked home alone that day. Juliet was still in her tree when I started heading home. It felt weird to be walking without Juliet by my side, but it was actually very peaceful without her constant chattering.
The birds cheeped, happily flying through the air. It was spring time, my favorite season.
I walked along the cracked sidewalk, being sure to never step on the lines. I don't know why I did that, it was just a pet peeve of mine I guess. Every time I walked past a house, I would admire everything about it. Then I would look back and try to memorize what the house looked like that day. I knew that someday, this nice little town would turn into something larger and more unhappy, so I would have to enjoy it when I did.
When I finally arrived home Mamma was waiting at the table for us. She took one glance at me and asked, "Where's Juliet?" with a worried look on her face. We were never separated.
As if on cue, Juliet opened the front door, glared at me, and slammed the door behind her. She stomped up to our room and I heard her screaming into her pillow. Surprisingly enough, pillows don't ever hold your scream into them.
Tears leaked out of my eyes. I hated this. I hated how my sister treated me like this when it wasn't even my fault. I hated how one boy acts nice towards me and Juliet hyperventilates.
"What's wrong, honey?" Mamma asked in the nicest voice she has.
I sob into her arms for what seemed like hours. She didn't say a word. That's what I like about my mom. She doesn't make you tell her what's going on. She let's you tell her when you're ready.
I don't ever remember Juliet being this mad at me. What's happening to us?
