Dan's POV

"Hailey!" I heard an unfamiliar voice call out. Hailey froze in place as her hand tightened around mine. Wait a minute. Was she shaking? I turned my attention to the figure near us and took him in. He was very muscular, no doubt. He towered above Hailey's small frame and was only about an inch taller than I. I also didn't like the way he was looking at her, like he owned her. A million questions races through my mind. Who was he? Why was Hailey so scared of him? "Well, I haven't seen you in awhile. Miss me?" the stranger said. "Um, Michael, can we not do this here," Hailey whispered. I squeezed her hand to teassure her. If this Michael guy tried do anything I'd stop him. I might die in the process, but I'd stop him.

Hailey's POV

"I asked you a question, bitch" Michael sneered. He always terrified me but in public he came across to everyone as nice. Why wasn't he doing that now? I glanced over to Dan who was eyeing Michael low he was going to rip his throat out any minute. "We really should be going," I said releasing Dan's hand, and turning towards the door. A hand wrapped around my wrist and I was yanked back in Michael's direction. "Not so fast," Michael said, a smirk forming on his face. "Please. You're drawing people's attention," I pleaded. My eyes were threatening to spill over with tears any minute. Michael's grip tightened and I winced. "Aye, get the fuck off her!" Dan shouted. I was releived Dan was standing up for me, but did he know what he was getting into. Michael is a big guy and no offense to Dan but Michael could probably take him in his sleep. Suprisingly he released my wrist. "I'll call you," Michael whispered into my ear. I stumbled over to Dan and gave him a huge hug. "Thank you," I breathed out. "I couldn't let you fend for yourself. I have to protect you," my heart lightened at Dan's words. I never really saw this sweet side of him, is being just friends and all. Dan's arm snaked around my waist and he headed to his car.

Once we pulled up in front of my flat, Dan walked me to my door. "I understand if you don't want to talk about what happened earlier, but you have some explaining to do." Dan said with a smile upon his face. I chuckled. Even in the worst times he could always manage to make me smile. "Maybe not today, but soon." I promised. "Okay." I looked into Dan's eyes. Oh God, his eyes. I flickered my eyes down to his lips, and half a second laterhe did the same thing. Dan began to lean in and I did the same. Our lips met and this is going to sound cheesy but time stopped. It felt like Dan and I were the only two people in the world. Dan's hands grabbed at my waist, and my hands found their way to his neck. Of all the people I dated there was never a more perfect kiss. We broke apart and I snapped back into reality. "The reason why I was distracted earlier was because I was planning that," Dan whispered with a smirk. "Well good job, because that was perfect." I said grinning from ear to ear. "I'll see you tomorrow?" Dan asked. I nodded my head and let myself into my flat. That kiss was enough to make me forget about Michael and how he almost ruined my first date with Dan.
