Chapter 17

AMARA

I woke up feeling a strong pang in my head. Fuck. I've never experienced this kind of hangover before.

I sat and leaned my back on the headboard of this queen-sized bed. Snakes were scattered all over the floor and they were sleeping. I guess I was really pretty drunk last night, I cant even remember how I released them.

I opened my palm then the snakes turned into a green vapor and went back inside my palm. I felt relief as I brought them back into me. Its as if I recover some of my strength.

Suddenly the door opened revealing a woman wearing a floral long dress. She was stunningly beautiful wearing a simple dress. It was Nemesis.

"I cooked a soup for you. I brought meds too for your head.." She said as she went inside and put the tray beside this bed.

This is my old bedroom when I was still living with Neme. We used to lived here together. Like a mother-daughter living a house.

"How sure are you that I need this." I said as I rolled my eyes and combed my beautiful hair with my hands.

"Cause as far as I remember. You were pretty drunk last night. Luckily that Sage answered my call.." Neme said as she sat at the corner of the bed.

"Does she recognized your voice?" I said as I took the glass of water and the meds. I badly needed this.

"I hope she didnt. But I'm pretty sure she doesnt have any idea who am I. You saved my number on your phone as "Karmie mommy" so i guess she assumed I'm your mom." Neme casually said.

I almost spit out the water and I giggled. "Did you like the name I gave to you?" I laughingly said. Neme just glared at me and sighed. "This is not the time for jokes, Amara."

"Whatever goddess of boredom" I said shrugging my shoulders. This woman, She doesnt have any humor. I just decided to took the soup and take a sip. I closed my eyes feeling the warmth inside my throat.

"Apollo. The God of dreams and prophecy. You met his son. Thats probably why you had a dream with Athena." Neme seriously said.

The smile on my face slowly fades. That guy that I fucked? No way. My brows furrowed. "But why I didnt even notice that? How?"

"I already told you, you're heart is starting to beat. It means. Youre slowly losing your power.." I gulped.

No way, this cant be.

After taking some rest for almost a day I decided to went to Sage's house. I always check her and her little sister. I dont know, I just felt that I need to protect her. Besides, its my fault too my their lives is in danger.

What Amara? Since when you had empathy? I shook my head. I glanced at the rear mirror of my car tracing my eyes with my fingers.

"What the fuck is this." I annoyingly said to myself as I saw that under my eyes were swelling.

I took the shades out of my bag and wore it before I decided to hopped out this car. I checked the time seeing that its already 10AM in the morning.

Sage has no class today. She's probably still sleeping. I knocked a few times on this dirty old door before someone finally opened it.

"Revrev?" The door opened revealing this little human wearing her pink pajamas. She was scratching her eyes I think she just got woke up.

I was disgusted by the pet name she gave to me but I was more surprised when she was raising her two arms like she was asking me to carry her. "What are you doing?" I flatly said.

"Sage is still sleeping, lets go to her room." She said with her eyes half close.

"Youre human, you have two feet, you can walk.." I said and was about to walk past her but I saw her pout her lips like she was about to cry.

"Unbelievable, youre going to cry?" I annoyingly said to her. But she just continued scratching her eyes. I rolled my eyes, luckily I'm still wearing my shades she didn't see it.

"Such a pest." I sighed and finally carry her. She wasn't that heavy, she was just a small human. I never let anyone get near to me. This was the first time I held a human.

I dont know why am I doing this shits. "You smell good Amara." She smilingly said while caressing my hair. I just let her touch my hair.

I never let anyone touch my hair but I just let her cause I dont want her to show some tantrums here. I dont want to cause a scene here. Sage might think I'm harming this little mortal. "Next time, little human dont open the door for stranger." I said as we walked upstairs.

"But youre not a stranger. Youre Adalee's friend." Her smiles resembles her sister. She also has this charming smile.

"But you dont know who's behind that door. Its dangerous." I scolded her. But she just giggled. "I know it was you, I saw you through our window." She's talkative.

I finally put her down and wiped my clothes and my arms with some tissue. I took my shades off as I saw Sarah slowly open the door revealing a small cozy pink room. Eww?

I was stunned looking at sleeping Sage. She was peacefully sleeping. Sarah immediately went beside her and it was surprising that she didnt woke up. Sarah tapped the bed signaling me to go beside her.

I slowly went to her making sure I wont make any noise to wake Sage up. "Dont worry, Adalee sleeps like a rock." She gigglingly said.

I just nod at her and carefully sat beside her in bed. Sarah laid down and hugged my waist. I just let her while my eyes are scanning the whole room. I saw a crutch for blind placed near their restroom.

"Who's crutch is that?" I whispered to Sarah.

"My mom's." Their mom's? but I havent seen their mom eversince. It was just the two of them.

Sarah responded with a hum. "Adalee said our mom is blind. She used to have that when she was still alive. Adalee doesn't want to dispose of it,. It was the only thing my mom left us. " she murmured while her eyes were closed. I think she's about to sleep again.

"What happened to her?" I curiously asked. But Sarah didnt say anything. I turn my gaze on her only to meet Sage's gaze. Her eyes are still half close I'm not sure if she's totally awake.

"Wow, how can someone look so beautiful in this morning?" She husked with a smile on her face like a drunk woman. Her eyes slowly closed I think she feel asleep again.

"Sage?" I called her using my soft voice. I was poking her with my index finger but she didnt woke up. She turned around and her back was facing me. And the next thing I heard is her soft snores.

Wtf is that? I can feel the pounds inside my chest, and it hurts so bad.
