AMARA

"A bright morning to the Goddess of Revenge," I announced cheerfully, sauntering into her office with a massive, triumphant smile plastered across my face.

Suddenly a loud thunder rattled the glass windows of the high-rise office building.

Whatever. I said in my mind and rolled my eyes.

I know it was Zeus's tantrum hadn't stopped since last night. The King of Olympus was mourning his favorite messenger.

I reached into my paper bag, pulled out the winged sandals, and placed them directly onto Neme's desk. "Look, Neme, I brought a souvenir" I announced, pitching my voice over the rumbling thunder outside.

Nemesis didn't look up immediately. But when she finally raised her eyes, they weren't filled with their usual playful amusement. They were dead serious.

"You killed him," she stated. It wasn't a question.

I smirked, unzipping my leather bag. With a dramatic flair, I pulled out the golden, winged sandals of Hermes and dropped them onto her pristine desk. The small wings on the ankles fluttered weakly, still radiating a faint, residual divine glow, though they were stained at the edges with dried, shimmering god-blood.

"He was annoying," I shrugged, leaning against the edge of her desk and crossing my arms. "And he talked too much about my mother. So, I took his legs. Then I took his head." I proudly said.

Nemesis stared at the shoes for a long, heavy moment. She reached out, her sharp, perfectly manicured finger lightly tracing the golden leather. "The winged sandals of Hermes," she murmured, her voice laced with a mixture of dark satisfaction and grim reality.

The air in the room suddenly grew suffocatingly dense. "Do you hear that thunder, Amara? That is not a passing storm. That is the wrath of the heavens."

I shrugged my shoulders. "They started it. He intercepted me on the road," I defended. "They already know about my existence. Neme. Hermes told me that Poseidon asked Zeus not to harm me."

"Because you killed Perseus. Have you already forgotten? But his protection means nothing now Amara. You killed a god on mortal soil. The treaty is broken."

"I dont need his protection." I flatly said.

"He's still your fa-"

"Opps. Stop right there Neme." I interjected firmly. "Look, I dont need someone else's protection. Especially if it from the gods. By hermes, I send them a special message that this is an open war."

Neme just sighed. She know that no matter what she say I wont buy it. That I will do anything to excute my revenge. Anyone who will come my will i will destroy it without thinking twice. "Fine. Then how about the girl?"
