I sat down inside my chair as River closed the door to my office. He walked towards my desk before stopping to look at the carpet that my desk, chair and guest chairs rested on.
"Is that blo-"
"Why don't we focus on one thing at a time," I said and his eyes went from the red stain on the carpet to me.
He cleared his throat before adjusting his jacket.
I poured myself a glass of whiskey before propping my elbows on the surface of the desk. I ran my fingers through my hair before letting out a sigh.
"Are you going to make me ask?" I asked
"Look Nixon, things weren't suppose to get so heated between Nova and I-"
"She's my sister River," I said and he looked away.
When we were younger he said he would never hit on anyone of my sisters because they were like his own sisters. And I agreed with him because River was a narcissistic man whore as me, maybe worst than I am. I didn't want any of me sisters falling for someone like that even if the guy is my best friend.
"And I'm your fucking my best friend bro. What the fuck dude?" I asked while standing to my feet.
"Look, I love her okay," he spoke and I froze.
"What?"
"I fell in love with her years ago. You can lie to yourself sure but you can't lie to your heart. I tried staying away, I tried making her hate me but nothing could stop the pounding feeling in my heart each time I see her face or hear her voice or even make her smile,"
He sat down before covering his face.
"Did it ever occur to you that most woman I go out with have a slight resemblance to Nova. I know it's fucked up but that's what I choose to do since I can't have her. I tried not wanting her and it's not because of my sake but because our friendship," he said before looking up at me.
"Nova wanted us to tell you but I couldn't. I was been a pu**y because I didn't want to lose my best friend," he said and I sat down.
"You love her?"
"More than anything," he admitted. I was still taken a back since River have never used the L word or talked abut anyone like this
And I would know if he's been fucking for real or not. The guy has been my brother/ best friend for years, I knew him but maybe not enough to know that he was in-love with my sister.
I mean I have run jokes on them about them dating or liking each but that was only to annoy them since they always act as if they hate each other.
