!!Disclaimer!!

As many of you may can guess, I don't understand a single Spanish word. But I am learning through the smp!

Everything written in Spanish is through the usage of Google translate, and it's only like three sentences, so don't worry. I apologize in advance to anyone who might actually understand Spanish.

Now on to the oneshot :)

---------------

He had always been a parent, to some degree.

For centuries, it has been his crows that he took care off, his murder that referred to him as their father. He has watched many crows be born and die of old age, has cared for them all their life, kept them safe and in return has been kept safe by them too. And he loves his crows dearly, despite how annoying they can be.

Then it was an actual child, a real baby given to him by his beloved wife, a baby born out of their love. It was a difference to taking care of birds, much more challenging and tiring and scary even, but that was normal for parenthood. At least he thinks it is. Wilbur had been a new light in his life, bright and warm and full of life, sharing so many similarities to Kristin. And now he was grown up, an aspiring musician touring the world and following his dream.

Phil was so incredibly proud of him.

He had picked up other children on the way too. Orphans or teens looking for a parental figure, had taken them in and raised them the best he could. Whether or not they turned out alright is to be determined... though he thinks Tommy could have turned out way worse without control, so his parenting can't be that bad.

But... after his boys had grown up and left the nest, he figured his times as a parent are over. Both because he doesn't have any kids of his own anymore and because he doesn't feel ready to adopt again any time soon. He could take some time to himself, go on adventures again and build monuments in random places when he felt like it. Only his birds remain by his side, loyal companions that never leave him.

He didn't expect that his vacation visit to this new island would change that. Honestly, he didn't expect anything special to happen when he got the train ticket and invitation for a vacation on Quesadilla Island. And the first few days went pretty well! Ignoring the fact that they more or less accidentally blew up a big part of the huge wall and now weren't really allowed to leave. But hey, he gets to see some familiar faces again, like Foolish and Fit and especially Wilbur!

He built himself a cozy spot on top of the wall, a safe place easy to reach with his wings. It wasn't the most beautiful thing he has ever built, rather basic and simple compared to his usual builds, but it was shelter and safe. That's all he needs for now, until he has aquired all the tools and resources he needs to improve it to something greater.

But now... now he stood in front of a familiar challenge.

A piece of paper in his hand, cursive writing binding him to a partner he doesn't know, tasked with taking care of the hatchling of a dragon that has left them behind on the island. Taking care of a new child, that was sitting in a glass displaying section alongside the other hatchlings, other paired up people already cooing over the children and deciding which one to adopt.

It seem like he was forced to be a father once more.

"Philza?" He turned towards the voice, heavy spanish accent letting him know it was his partner for this challenge. Missa looked at him, head tilted in question, bone mask covering his face. They had briefly chatted before, but are nothing more than acquaintances at best. Hopefully that will change soon and he'll actually help Phil watch over the kid. "You okay man?" Phil looked back at the room full of children waiting to be taken care of. "Yeah. Just got lost in thought. Let's get our child." The bone mask stayed focused on him a little longer, silently watching him for any hint of his real thoughts, before turning to look through the glass again.
