"Alright students, I have exciting news," Professor Black said, pausing for effect.
"We will be celebrating Hallow's Eve on the Friday before the 31st. Costumes are most welcome," he continued.
Chatter filled the room.
"Ahem..... Additionally, there will be no funny business. Any pranks will be punished heavily."
I turned to Sebastian and Ominis, "you celebrate Hallow's Eve here?" I asked excitedly.
"Of course we do. Have you celebrated it before?" Sebastian asked.
I shook my head. "We weren't allowed to."
A sad expression drifted across his face.
I smiled, "better late than never."
I glanced at Ominis, he had been rather cold with us lately. I knew it had something to do with the relic.
Sebastian believed he was getting close to a cure for Anne. I would listen and be supportive, but truthfully, the more he discovered, the more ominous this book appeared.
"Ominis, what will you go as?" I asked, attempting to include him in the conversation.
"No clue," he shrugged.
I signed. I did feel bad that we hadn't told him about our relationship, but then I remembered how much he exploded in the Undercroft a few nights prior. If he found out about us, I was concerned he'd accuse me of taking Sebastian's side because of how I felt. Honestly, if there was one thing I hated the most, it was being accused of acting irrational. It happened far too often in my childhood.

After the assembly had ended, Sebastian and I had snuck off (as usual) to the room of requirement. We sat together, watching the fire under a moonlit sky. The room of requirement really was amazing, and the memories I shared with Sebastian here were even more incredible. While he usually had his head buried in a that book, here his sole focus was me. It was a place he could both get away from it all, and I was more than happy to oblige if it mean't his head could be a bit clearer.
I snuggled up in his arm. My head was pacing back and forth.
"I think we need to tell Ominis. It will do more harm than good if we don't," I finally spoke.
"Yes, he probably thinks we are plotting to use that book behind his back."
"Well are you?" I asked.
Sebastian didn't answer.
I frowned.
"Anyway hopefully, he doesn't hate me. It was my idea."
He shook his head, "he might be a little angry, but I don't think he'll hate you."
"So that's what you two have been up to?" A voice pierced the air.
My heart froze and I slowly turned my head. Ominis had found the room.
"Ominis.... how did you get in here?" I asked.
"I followed you guys into a dead end, then stood there for a while to think. A door just popped up out of nowhere," he spat. I could feel the anger in his voice.
I had no idea what to say, Ominis didn't deserve to be berated for being concerned about his friends. Any bitterness for laying blame on me immediately subsided.
"Ominis I'm so sorry, it was my idea to keep it a secret. Not Sebastian's. I was just scared of judgement truthfully. Everyone else in the school has been whispering about me. About who I am and where I'm from. I was just afraid," I said with a hint of panic in my voice.
'Please don't hate me,' I said.
I watched his face, waiting for his reaction. It was stern  initially but then softened.
Ominis signed. "Honestly, I knew this would happen eventually. You're both joined at the hip when you're together. I had just assumed that all this sneaking around was about the stupid book. That's why I was so angry."
I tensed. I knew Sebastian wouldn't take that.
"It's not stupid Ominis. It's the only hope we have to cure Anne. Why can't you see that?" He asked.
Ominis frowned again, "you know nothing good can come of the dark arts. I can't just sit by and watch you throw your life away. I don't want to lose my best friend."
I could feel myself beginning to explode again. Here I was, trying to find some peace and help Sebastian do so too, but now they were both arguing again. I couldn't even be grateful one weight was lifted off my shoulders before being thrusted into another.
"That's enough, both of you. This is getting ridiculous. Are you both really going to ruin your friendship over a book? That would be foolish," I yelled.
"It's not just any book. It's Salazar Slytherin's!" Ominis exclaimed.
"Is it not worth reading it? If it has any information on how to save Anne? Even just a little?" I asked.
Ominis signed, "nothing is worth it."
"That's ridiculous. This is my sister you're talking about," Sebastian said.
"I'm well aware!"
"How about this," I said, trying to remain composed.
"Sebastian can read the book but beyond that, he needs to run it by us. Is that fair?" I asked, silently pleading for just some sort of compromise.
"No," he said.
Sebastian opened his mouth to speak, but I spoke before he could.
"Ominis, you can't just ask him to stop reading the book. It's given Sebastian hope, and quite frankly, he needs that more than ever," I said, watching his face.
His features softened slightly, "fine. But I'm not going to be happy about it." Then, he turned and left.
Finally, I could breathe.
"Aura you're amazing," Sebastian said, then leaned in for a kiss.
I put my finger on his lips. "Ah, ah, I mean't it. Only read the book. Do not do anything stupid okay?"
He pouted for a second, then stopped when he realised I wouldn't budge.
"Fine," he exhaled.
"Good," I crossed my arms, and tried to remain serious, but failed miserably. His large pouty eyes always made me cave.
I rolled my eyes. "Come here," I said as I wrapped my arms around him.
Sebastian leaned down and touched his lips with mine. I felt sparks rush throughout my head, becoming more light headed as he kissed me harder. When our lips finally parted, I felt a sense of dread. How far was I willing to go for this boy? Surely there was no harm in simply reading the book? I wanted to support Sebastian no matter what, yet something was telling me this wasn't right. Somewhere in the back of my mind a voice echoed, warning me, that nothing good could come from messing with the natural order of things. I pushed them down, for his sake.
