Maureen with a cup of coffee in hand stood behind and watched an uncomfortable Isaac get to work. With the silence going on for so long, she decided to initiate a conversation.

"So Isaac, tell me about yourself", she started while leaning on the wall and sipping the coffee. "Have you really been out of this town to the city?", Maureen continued.

Startled from work, Isaac irritatingly told her there was nothing to know, and suggested she stop being nosy into other people's affairs. This prompted Maureen to stop drinking and hit back at the attitude of everyone she met within the rural community.

"Well, that's how things are here, so don't expect better", he replied, as he stopped working for a while and then continued.

Feeling disgusted and insulted, Maureen prepared to leave while letting him know she'd be outside if he needed anything or was done with the work. With a scoffing Maureen already on her way, Isaac stopped working and told her to wait.

"I'm sorry about that", he said. "Thing is I haven't been this close to someone from the city, and it's making me feel nervous".

With Maureen stopped and faced away from him, she let out a gentle smile as the walkaway trick seemed to always work for her. Turning around abruptly and looking serious, she sighed and told him it was all fine.

"It's not like I'm going to hurt you or something", she added.

Isaac proceeded back to work and explained to her that the attitude he pulled up was based on all they'd heard about the city people.

"They said you people are arrogant, most especially to locals like us", he said, as Maureen watched on in awe and amusement.

After a bit of a laugh, she explained to him that it wasn't always so while walking back to him. She further explained the reasons attached to his allegations, which had to do with individual differences.

"...plus, I'm not that way, I just want to be your friend", she continued while making eye contact with a very shy Isaac.

Pausing for a moment and staring hard at her, he acknowledged her friendship proposal and went back to work. After managing to fix her electricity, they both engaged in long conversations that went on into the night. With the night really heavy upon the town, Isaac got up to take his leave, with a smiling Maureen showing gratitude for his company and wishing they could have such conversant moments again.

"You're nice, I hope so too", a smiling Isaac said, with Maureen writing down her number and giving it to him to call on her anytime he's free.

Isaac shyly collected the piece of card from her while promising to call her. On his way through the cast of the night, he waved Maureen goodbye with both shouting "Goodnight" from their respective points.

Days went by with Isaac becoming a regular visitor, helping and chatting with his new friend, Maureen. Through the periods of every single day, they'd talk for hours, with Isaac becoming more comfortable to occasionally spend the night. Both seemed very close to one another, as their escapades continued for a while until Isaac made up his mind to ask her to be his girl. After the daily routine of another day, she decided to see him off to a distance through the night. While walking on, he mentioned having something in mind to tell her, which prompted both to stop, with Maureen standing right opposite him with curiosity all over her face. Isaac nervously fumbled with his words as she amusingly stared at him.

"Yeah, I was thinking huh...", he stuttered nervously while trying not to make eye contact with her.

"Really?", she asked. "You know, I actually know what you want to say, and my response is yes", Maureen continued while also telling him she wondered how long he was going to continue coming over without telling to her.

Shyly smiling and shocked, Isaac didn't believe his luck, as he really didn't expect things to turn out so easy for him. Trying to show appreciation for her understanding, Isaac was stopped as she thanked him instead for helping her forget a lot of sorrows she was dealing with. They both hug for a few seconds, after which Maureen tells him to be on his way home due to the heavy hour of the night. They both exchanged pleasantries, kissed for the first time, and went their separate ways. Unknowingly to both of them, a vengeful James had been stalking them all along, with his cold sights set upon the unaware Maureen in the distance. This prompted him to bring out his phone and dial a contact.

"We need to talk", he said, while hanging up and walking off into the dark.
