Elizabeth was born to Margarette and Robert Hayes in 1900, the youngest of the three (so far) children. To say that Robert was a violent man would have been an understatement, with a notable accident happening when Eliza was fourteen, with Robert slamming her head against a cabinet, resulting in her getting a deep scar down her right eye. Her formative years were spent desperately trying to date around to no avail, partly due to her attitude and partly due to her scarring leaving her temporarily blind in her right eye. After her father was killed in a bar riot back in 1918, she met the then 19 year old Mordecai through her older brother at his funeral, with the two kind of being pressured by the people they knew into a convince marriage in 1920. While the two didn't exactly love each other like Eliza hoped she would love her future husband, the two definitely didn't hate each other, and actually enjoyed each other's prescience, which was partly what lead to her family pressuring her to pursue him. Exactly six months after their father's passing, Lillian was born and Eliza was sent reeling at having to juggle both courting someone and helping her now widowed mother raise a little girl.
For the first few months to a year into their marriage, Mordecai kept his work life tightly closed off from Elizabeth, only telling her he just ran errands for his boss. It wasn't until he came home covered in blood one day that he finally buckled down and admitted that he killed a man for a person named Atlas. Now, Eliza's sister would have probably ran straight to the police, or even just ran away, but Eliza was not her sister, was she? She learned the art of washing blood out of clothes and making up alibis for her husband's dirty work whenever someone came snooping at her house.
Here's a Beta Design for her
