It was a calm, peaceful Wednesday afternoon, and the day was absolutely gorgeous. So gorgeous that it prompted the windows to be opened and a day of spring cleaning to be commenced.
Eliza had just beaten the living room rug, placing it back down on the floor once she returned inside. Now that the living room was cleaned, she could start on the kitchen. Now, she wasn't one to brag but even she had to admit she was making good time with the cleaning, daring to hope she could get it done before nightfall.
Mordecai was writing something in his office, and the two of them seemed pleased in the days activities.
Eliza picked up the broom and began to sweep the kitchen, the only noises being her humming along to the radio and...wait, what was that other noise???
She looked around before glancing down at the floor, eyes widening as she realized a small garter snake slithering towards her from the kitchens door.
"AHHHHHH" She shrieked, nearly tripping over herself to climb onto one of the chairs, batting at the creature with her broom.
The screaming prompted the sounds of rushing footsteps as Mordecai rushed to the kitchen.
"WHAT? WHATS GOING ON?!"
"SNAAAAAKE!!"
Her husband's face dropped as he noticed the slithery fellow, which to his horror turned and started slithering towards him as well. He screamed out, jerking backwards and trying to kick the thing away before he looked around the kitchen, pointing to a large pot that sat on the counter.
"THAT! PASS ME THE POT!" He screamed.
Elizabeth obeyed, grabbing the pot and near throwing it at Mordecai, who caught it and turned it over the snake, trapping it inside.
Finally, all was quiet as the two stared at the turned over pot before slowly glancing up at each other.
"....Say, how long has it been since we've gone out to eat?" He asked, looking back down at the floor.
"Uh...a while, I guess..." Elizabeth said as she meekly stepped off the chair she was perched upon.
"What do you say we...leave the house to go do that?"
"Sounds like a wonderful idea."
