Due to ongoing conflicts between the two sides of the family, Rhaenyra and her side left King's Landing to reside on Dragonstone to escape the Hightowers and with the recent deaths of Ser Lyonel Strong, the Hand of the King, Ser Harwin Strong, the Velaryon boys' biological father and Lady Laena Velaryon, their father's sister and their aunt, the two sides of the Targaryen family would meet once again.

Y/N, Jace, and Luke were comforting their cousins, Baela and Rhaena, at their mother's funeral. While conversing with Rhaena, Y/N caught Aemond looking at her. He signaled Y/N to follow him. Even though she was confused by this, Y/N excused herself from Rhaena and followed Aemond down by the beach where there were no people around.

"Aemond? What is it that you require, uncle?" Y/N asked.

"I heard that you had to choose between me and Aegon of whom to take as your husband." Aemond said, walking around and kicking the sand around him

"Yes, that is true." Y/N replied, walking beside him.

"Have you already chosen, dear niece?" Aemond asked, hopefully.

Y/N laughed a bit at his question. "I was just informed of this thing, Aemond. Did you really expect me to have chosen already?" Y/N replied as Aemond stopped walking.

She was a few steps behind him. His hair flowed in the wind as he watched the ocean waves rise and fall. Y/N slowly walked up to him to see if he is okay. "Aemond?" She called out to him as he suddenly went silent.

Aemond looked at her then at the ocean. "The ocean is very beautiful." He replied.

"I have to agree." Y/N said then was startled by Aemond suddenly taking her hand. She looked at him and he at her.

"Don't marry him and marry me instead." Aemond suddenly stated.

"Aemond, I-, I ca-, I must-" Y/N stuttered.

"It is not a request, niece, but rather something that you should do. You know Aegon and his personality. He would do nothing but bring you unhappiness." Aemond said, looking straight into Y/N's eyes

Y/N parted her mouth a bit, surprised with her uncle's bluntness. Personally, she didn't want to marry either of them, knowing she would be tied amongst the Hightowers who would stop at nothing to obtain more power but then again she knew Aemond will definitely be a much better husband than Aegon will ever be. Y/N took her hand out of Aemond's grasp then looked around everywhere except his eyes.

"I shall return to the castle. I have not made my decision yet, Aemond, but I will take your statement into consideration only if you and your brother would court me properly." Y/N said, her hands clasped together in front of her.

Aemond nodded at her response, actually a bit happy that she is reconsidering into marrying him rather than Aegon. If he were being honest, no man would be worthy of the princess, no Targaryen, Lannister, or Stark or anyone at all.

Y/N walked away briskly, leaving Aemond alone at the beach, watching his childhood crush walk away. As Y/N walked to her quarters in Driftmark, she really thought of Aemond's statement earlier.

"...and marry me instead."

Y/N knew Aemond was right about Aegon. He was a drunk and treated women like they were nothing. She really pitied the wife he would have but she also thought of the advantages in having Aegon as a husband. First, there would be no succession crisis and knew Aegon would never really want to rule and would be very contented in being consort but then again his grandfather might vouch for him as ruler.
