Erin placed a tray of waffles, drinks, and other delicious breakfast items on the wooden table of a booth that had two long-haired men sitting around it, chatting away about some random topic.
"Thanks, Erin." A tall, lanky boy said as he took his plate off the tray. He gives Erin a big grin.
"No problem, Tommy." She said, smiling at her older brother.
The man across the table took his plate, his black, spikey hair covering some of his face, and shooting every which way.
"Thanks, Erin." He said, a small smile crawling into his lips.
"Sure thing, Rockstar." She smiled. He smirked at the nickname.
"Hey, Nikki?" Tommy called to the spikey-haired boy.
"Yup?" Nikki said, popping the 'p' as he gave all his attention to his small stack of buttermilk waffles.
"What do you think about Mick Mars?" Tommy asked, turning the newspaper so Nikki could see the guy's profile.
'Loud, rude, aggressive lead guitarist. Includes background vocals. – Mick Mars – Call ***-****-****'
"We already have a guitarist, Tommy." Nikki shrugged, eating some of his food, looking at the profile.
"Yeah, but you've been complaining about him ever since we started jamming!" Tommy said, trying to justify letting another guitarist audition for the band.
Nikki thought about what Tommy said before looking up at Erin who was looking at the newspaper as well. "What do you think, Erin?" He asked, smirking.
"I think you should let the guy try out, he's got a cool name, too." She shrugged, picking up the serving tray off the table.
"Well?" Tommy asked, turning to Nikki with excited eyes, and a huge grin.
Nikki looked back and forth between Erin and Tommy, a smirk slowly growing on his lips. "Fine. But if he sucks, you gotta be the one to tell him." He finished, eating a fork-full of waffles.
"Yes!" Tommy exclaimed, high-fiving Erin who was smiling widely.
...
Tommy was sitting at his drum set, Nikki was holding his bass, and Leon was holding his teal blue Fender Strat, that has a red, glossy pick-guard. (Greg Leon was Motley Crue's first, and original guitarist). Erin was perched on the couch, drinking an ice cold beer that she had just cracked open.
"Hey, Tommy?" Erin asked, looking bored and restless.
"Hm?" Tommy said, tuning up his drum set.
"When's he coming?" She asked, getting bored of sitting and doing absolutely nothing.
"Soon- I hope." He mumbled, looking at the clock on the wall.
Just then, loud music came rolling by the apartment from a small, red-ish car. Everyone rushed over to the window to see who it was. The vehicle stopped by the curb and out came a long-haired man.
"Check this guy out." Nikki smirked, taking a swig of his beer.
Tommy walked out the door, running down the steps to help out who we all assumed to be Mick Mars.
"You think he's gonna be any good?" Nikki asked Erin, following her outside and down the stairs.
"I hope so, 'cause Leon isn't gonna make it... Unless you guys want to be some hippie band." She sighed, getting to the bottom of the steps and leaning against the wall, watching Mick and Tommy exchange names as they both lifted the large amp that Mick brought.
Nikki took his place next to Erin, watching the skinny boy get defensive over something Mick must've said.
"Have you even seen us play?"
"Sweet 19?" Mick said, giving him a look.
"Yeah."
"Don't need to." He paused. "Shitty name, shitty band."
"And how would you know?" Tommy asked as he trucked up the stairs with one half of the amp's weight in his hands.
"I've been in plenty of bands with shitty names." He looked at Erin and Nikki and nodded. "Hey."
"Hey, man." Nikki smirked, enjoying the show. Both Erin and Nikki followed the two stubborn men up the stairs, shutting the door behind them.
Erin collapsed back onto the couch, taking a swig of her drink.
Nikki showed Mars the cords. "You sure you got it?"
"Let's just fuckin' play it, man."
And he began playing. Nikki almost looked surprised before Tommy got into it, and soon Nikki joined in. Erin watched intently, the music ringing through her mind. Then she realized Leon. He was too slow.
Mick picked up another insane riff, shredding the guitar. He was good.
"Woah, woah! Can you turn it down old man? I can hardly hear myself think!" Leon complained. "Jesus, man..." He scoffed.
Mick looked offended. Erin's jaw dropped slightly. Mars turned to Nikki with an annoyed look.
"Fuckin' hippie ain't gonna make it." He muttered to Sixx.
"So tell him." Nikki smiled suggestively.
Mick sighed before turning to Leon. "Look, there's only room in this band for one guitarist, and that's me. So... Why don't you pack up your toys and go home." He told the blonde hippie.
"No, no, no. I was in this way before you. Tell him Nikki." He nodded his head towards Nikki, who just shrugged. "Tommy?" He desperately looked over at Tommy who dropped his drumstick to get out of being honest with Leon. "Are you serious?!" He whined, voice getting higher. "Fuck you guys!" He exclaimed, walking towards the door. "Shitty fuckin' band!" He shouted, slamming the door behind him.
The room fell silent, the only sound was coming from the amp that still had Mick's guitar plugged into it.
"Wow." Erin mumbled, sipping off the last of her beer.
"So... How old are ya, Mick?" Tommy asked.
"Fuck you, you fuckin' teenager." Mick snapped.
"What did I say?" Tommy asked. "What'd I do?"
Mick seemed to fade to his own world for a moment, before he looked at his hand and flexed it. "You're damn right I'm old," He announced. "Old enough to know not to fool around. I'm paying child support and sleeping on park benches, so I need to know you guys aren't pulling dick here, 'cause if you are, let's not waste the time." He told the room.
Nikki chuckled. "I fuckin' love this weird little guy!" He exclaimed, giving Erin and Tommy a high-five before jumping into the couch next to Erin, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and messing up her hair happily.
Tommy went for a high-five for Mick, before Mars gave him a look and he backed down with an apology.
